What's up with the $5 dollar difference? Aren't these "the same" pellets just rebranded,
At those prices… shooting a rimfire is as as economical… I refuse to pay $25 for a tin of pellets to plink with. Some of these vendors will soon simply price themselves out of the market. I am in the midst of overstocking on CPHPs… Their price per tin is more realistic than the “bullistics” that drive up the price of the “branded ” pellets …
I recently got 500 NORMA for $ 11.99. 2 250 count tins. I also revisited the Crosman 14.3's today. I get more fliers with them but it is still possible to get an occasional good group! I have JSB's and JTS, and they produce fliers as well, just less in My experience. If you are a competition shooter, shooting airguns for the prestige and prizes? Then I can see paying a premium for eeking out the best precision/accuracy possible. But for the “majority” who come to Airguns to simply shoot economically? Hunting, pesting or plinking sub 50 yards? The CPHPs get it done at half the price.
I don’t look for awesome groups with my CPHPs, M.O.P. minute of pest, sub 50 yards? Good enough, the critters don’t care, they simply die… When sending at targets to get tighter groups? I send JSBs or AAs pellets… My PCPs are for fun and practical purposes…I recently got 500 NORMA for $ 11.99. 2 250 count tins. I also revisited the Crosman 14.3's today. I get more fliers with them but it is still possible to get an occasional good group! I have JSB's and JTS, and they produce fliers as well, just less in My experience.
My DAR G3 was a laser with the 14.3 cphp out to 74 yards. They were whizzing along at 965 fps.Considering the Norma's are close to 18 grn @17.6 for the price I couldn't go wrong. What was strange is today the Crosman were doing surprisingly well at just over 900 FPS. lol
Is a wider shallower hole better?
But if you want an expanding pellet I would try a poly mag or metal mag.
It actually isn't, I just made the price comparison. Trenier didn't have the hades in stock so I couldn't use those as a direct comparison but their other jsb pellets are the same price. It comes to about $22 dollars cheaper and Trenier packages their tins exceptionally. Whereas Pyramyd Air is hit or miss.Treniers are more expensive than Pyramyd and so often out of stock. Pyramyd has the cheapest Atomics.
And yes, I'm aware of the price on your screenshots. Still more expensive.
With how AEA/JTS pellets performs, I don't find myself shooting slugs AS much, they just perform extremely well specially having that higher BC than your average pellet from other vendors. And being that they're a few dollars cheaper with newer dies pushing out these mostly perfect pellets, it's a no brianer.Pays to shop around and check different "branded" pellets. I don't buy pellets unless there is a sale. I will no longer buy JSBs for what I can get JTS 18gr for. JSBs also have too many bent pellets and rejects to mess with. I'm trying slugs in one gun but looking into the price I'm looking at 14+ cents a shot when including tax and shipping. My JTS I got for I think 3.8 cents a shot after tax and shipping on the last sale. Don't know if I really want to mess with slugs much anymore lol
I've thought about buying Norma pellets, never did thinking I would get the same outcome as Apolo pellets. They've only ever shot well out of my turkish guns.My DAR G3 was a laser with the 14.3 cphp out to 74 yards. They were whizzing along at 965 fps.
I bought 3000 of those Norma 17.6ers good cheap heavy.
I'm not sure what you're results have been with metal mags, but they definitely show little to no expansion on my end, and at $28 plus tax for a 200ct unless I just hunted larger small game or did pest removal hear and there I couldn't see myself buying them. It's the price you pay for purchasing the "latest and greatest" product. Over hyped to the max in my opinion. I use simple domed pellets for hunting/pesting. Work great. It's a myth that you need a "hunting pellet". It may a wider hole but will penetrate less if it does. Is a wider shallower hole better? I do not think so and I have great results to support my position. But if you want an expanding pellet I would try a poly mag or metal mag. They used to be the "latest and greatest" and are the same pellet they've always been. Or a "crow magnum" or many others. I have not purchased a hades pellet and probably will not. I just do not see the point. I have a tin of metal mags but have not shot them into an animal. Domed work fine and are more accurate in my guns.
FX and JSB pellets are made by JSB. FX negotiates some conditions on how their pellets are made that make them shoot a little difference in some guns. My Avenger likes FX 25.4s but shoots JSB pellets of the same weight well. If you want to try a hades type pellet I would save $4 and try the FX equivalent. If it shoots well but not great you could still try the Hades. But the Atomic may shoot better in your guns. I don't think the difference will be large.
100%, my minimum for years is purchasing no less than 1,000 rounds in PBSo buy 3 tins the forth is free $100 ÷ 2000
