Portable miter saw stand and plywood. Easy too make easy to setup and very portable.

Most of the time I use a Husky Portable Jobsite Workbench with a plastic tool box and a shop towel. The Husky is handy for other stuff too. It served as a support for the vice while working over a 2289 trigger and soaking in some sunshine this afternoon. Keeps the food above canine level when cooking lunch on the rocket stove, etc. We have two and consider them indispensable for anyone who tinkers.

Correction to my post, the legs are “Rugged Buddy,” and looks like they may be out of business. The measurements of my stand are 48” long, 24” wide, and stands about 36” tall. I reinforced the bottom with some scraps. Made a catch all from a left over tool box removable tray. Sealed with polyurethane. It ain’t pretty, but sure works. Also makes an excellent impromptu work bench for gutting a springer…..

This is my bench rest. I used 3/4 iron plumbing pipe for the legs. They screw into pipe flanges that are screwed to angled pieces of 2x4 to splay them out some. The 2x4 blocks are screwed to 3/4 plywood. On the under side you can see the slightly more than 1/2 the pipe slices of PVC piping also screwed to the underside of the top. If I want to take the bench somewhere I just screw off the legs and snap them into the PVC clips and grab the handle cut into the top. I sit on a harbor freight stool sold for working on cars. It's pretty light but it is stable. I had the pipe without a plan for it's use and the scrap of plywood so my cost was minimal. If I was doing it again I'd make it about 6 inches wider. But it works fine and I have no plans to remake it.

I wanted something similar to what you described. The ready-make portable tables didn't give me the stability I was looking for. Ended up building this one. The large wheels allow me to push it around in the yard for longer shooting distances. The wooden rods pull out and make it easy to "wheelbarrow" around.
