Do competition winners lube their slugs?

I’d love to know if the winners of all the big bench rest and ELR competitions lube their slugs, or if they just shoot them “stright out the box”.
Would be interesting to know the percentage of podium winners that use lube vs those that don’t.

I use home-made lithi-bee on my cast airgun slugs. Same stuff that I use on my cast 9mm hand loads.

I use 10wt Team Associated 100% silicone oil.

It is just a silicone oil with some specific viscosivity.

Silicone oil or shock oil won't diesel and I've never heard of dieseling issues from lubing pellets or slugs unless you're talking about a springer maybe

I have used fp-10 dry chain lube and a couple others I just stay away from silicone oil because it's not a good lubricant for metal on metal

Nope. The original RWS cylinder oil for springers is silicone oil and of course dieseling would be a big problem if it were to happen.

I cycle a lot so I also considered using the chain wax I use on my bikes as a pellet lube, but when I read the ingreadients it said petroleum distillates… so I decided not to try it just incase it produces a dieseling “bang” in my rifle.
Of course there are probably 1000’s of different types of chain wax and chain lubes avalible, not all of them might contain petroleum products

You dont get dieseling in a pcp by coating projectiles. Dieseling happens when petroleum products get compressed enough to cause it to ignite. You are not compressing air at the chamber of a pcp rifle. I dont like petroleum products for lubing projectiles in case it degrades the barrel oring or probe oring.
