Do I have a rusted barrel?

It has been a while since I’ve cleaned my. 25.
It is a compact veteran. And it is stored in a climate controlled environment.
I ran a couple of patches through with some bore solvent, and everything looks somewhat normal. I had recently inquired on a different thread about motorheads cleaning process. So I decided to run a patch with JB bore paste.

Compare the top patches to the bottom patches. Am I looking at rust residue??

The bore paste may have loosened/softened up the rust inhibitor used by the manufacturer. The stuff is hard to get it all out of the rifleing. Once it gets old it hardens like ,oh idk,old varnish.

J-B will always emerge with a dark rust color, even from a freshly lapped barrel.

I'm with the rest, if you change the grit, you change the patch color.

From my own experiences, I'd say you had/have some surface rust.
