Other Do I need a .177?

Probably not but I want one! I hoped to justify it by using the price of pellets but the maths just do not work out. Quieter? No again. My Zelos in .25 is so quiet that it sucks in sound from other pellet rifles going off in the area and makes them quieter. The only justification I have is that my .25 is tearing up the cheap spinner targets I have, and that's enough for me!

So, can you recommend a PCP .177 that is inexpensive and has a high shot count?

I've had .177 breakers for years and just got my first PCP for this very reason and more. Not fumbling around w itty bitty pellets between shots is the big game changer IMO.

My .25 have the noise and energy levels to just barely make them indoor/ back yard usable. The difference in shot count is significant too.

Many options out there. Define inexpensive

I personally have no like or need for 177. However if you want one I say just go for it. No need to justify. Cheaper pellets…you spend hundreds on a new gun to save a few pennies a shot. Going to take a long time to break even. Just buy one because you and us all need another pcp.

Maybe $400? The Snopeak M60b is only $600 and I love my zelos so I am sure I would love that. BUT the Karma EQ should be out soon and it is supposed to come in .177 for around $900! I just wanted to stay out of the Daystate FX territory.

100 percent, and don't forget about another scope! I did the math and there isn't enough difference in price of ammo for sure.

I did not think about the size of the pellets related to my fumble fingers, that is something to consider.

needs and practical justification proabably take the back seat to wants and desire in most airgun purchases...just sayin'

inexpensive is a relative term... stating your budget will yield better answers.

Define "High shot count " . That has a lot of definitions . What is a high shot count per fill ?

Especially when you find out that 177 pcp only likes one type of pellet and it's just as expensive as the 22 or 25s.
Yeah there arent a whole lot of ammos that are actually cheaper in 177. Certainly some but not as many as maybe there used to be back in the day. I have been buying up the JSB KO MK3 slugs when they go on sale and those are the cheapest good ammo I have really come across so far. And even then the price difference between 22Cal is almost nothing.

The only problem with buying a cheap rifle is, you have a cheap rifle! If you want a .177 (and everyone should), then my suggestion is to get a good one. My favorite yard rifle is an HW100 carbine in .177 that I tuned down to around 11 fpe; very accurate, huge shot count (for a cylinder), and sufficiently powerful for squirrels. Have fun.

I really like my P25-177 which is almost the same as a Stoeger bullshark. I get close to 100 19fpe shots from a fill. It is surprisingly effective on squirrels and good for targets in low wind. Likes H&N Baracuda Match pellets and easily gets them going 900 fps. Nice and quiet with an in shroud printed moderator. Only weighs about 5 lbs.

It is a good rifle, just not an expensive one.

Do you remember which diameter of the HN Baracuda Match yours likes?
