Do I really need a slug barrel to shoot slugs?

Been shooting of late some Neilson 23 grain flat base .22 cals out of my full length 23.5" conventional rifled choked LW barrel. Using .217" slugs that have a light interference fit being easy to chamber, yet when at the choke SNUG UP quite a bit. being shot at @ 1015 fps there printing inside 3/4" at 80 yards. Give or take MOA accurate.

BTW ... @ 53 ft/lbs power

Hey Scott, what gun are you shooting those through? Great results!

I have been successfully delivering Nielsen Speciality Ammo 23 Grain Hollowpoints out of my FX Impact X using the stock STX liner.
You can witness the slugs flight and the accuracy in my sneak peek videos in the HUNTING section of the forums.

LW bbls will shoot slugs. Slug your barrel, get the dimensions, and get slugs close to the bbl measurements. Powder burners shoot slugs, you can get sizing/lubing dies and press from reloading equipment sellers, and get your slugs to a perfect size for your bbl. I used to shoot powder burners, cast, sized, lubed and rolled my own.

Slug fit is of prime importance to accuracy.
