Do Not Buy - Direct Fill Compressor From EdGunWest - Failed less than 2 months

I have never run the compressor on a battery or from a vehicle, I have always used the compressor with it connected to the AC outlet in the garage. The compressor has been sitting in same spot, on a shelf top, since the day I received it (9/15/2021). Except for the shipment, when purchased, it has not since endured any stress from being transported.

I noticed that o-rings were bulging out at both ends of the water filter, so I was thinking that maybe the water filters were over saturated, causing back pressure and a high current draw on power supply. I had to buy a spanner hook wench, so that I could get the filter assembly open, replace the o-rings and replace the water filters.

Well, after changing out the water filters, replacing the o-rings, that didn’t resolve the voltage drop issue. Thought it would be a simple fix, but it looks like a warranty repair/replacement is in order.

Here is a video capture of the unit slowing down, internal power supply’s dc voltage output dropping and shutting off the compressor.

Seems the power supply can't keep up with the current draw as the pressure rises or possibly it's overheating.

Agree, seems to be an internal power supply issue. This happens, consistently, from a cold start in a very cool space (45-65*F), both cooling fans are functioning normal. The unit is cool to the touch, and this slow down/shut down sequence occurs in approximately less than 3.5 minutes minutes run time.

Performed the leak test per the Operator's Manual, pressure set to 250 bar, whip test plug installed, run unit until pressure reaches 200bar, stop fill and observe for leaks. Internal power supply failed to maintain DC output above 10VDC, and shut down Unit did not reach 200bar, low voltage shut off occurred at approximately 1min 57 sec, with the digital pressure gauge reading holding at 182bar after low voltage shutdown of the compressor.

Well in the late 80's when i studied electronics we had a "rule of thump". Called the halfway rule.

If you had an amplifier that didnt spit out what it was supposed to then measure whats half way betwhhen input and output.

If thats no go 50% closer to input, if yes then go 50% closer to output. In minutes flat you would be in the vesinity of the culprit.

You have done nothing but repeatedly fail and just said "hey whats wrong".

Hook thad compressor of yours to a car battery and lets know it it is a problem in the power supply or a problem in the compressor.

It's not that hard!!!

The unit has failed in less than two months, it should be a warranty repair/replacement. I've done enough troubleshooting!

The operator's manual, states to contact the seller, does not provide any contact information for the manufacturer.

The seller has been notified of the failure. Still awaiting appropriate action from the seller.

Update: 15 days later. No remediation, for unit that has failed in less than two months usage, from the seller or manufacturer.

After sales customer support: poor/unsatisfactory

Your complaint should be in the manufacturer feedback section to Edgun west.

I know you want and deserve warranty service but if that doesn't workout the internal power supply is easy to upgrade. If you get fed up and just don't want it anymore please give me a chance to be the new owner.

Good luck.

As a Veteran US Navy Fire Control Technician and a career BioMedical Equipment Technician, I am fully capable of troubleshooting and repairing this device.

The point of this thread is to share information, about this device’s premature failure, what kind of after sales support to expect, for anyone that has or are considering buying this Direct Fill Compressor.

Example of how other sellers (not EdGunWest) provide after sales support:

Well thats great. Now that you have a working unit did you find out what was actually went wrong with the one that crapped out? Inquiring minds want to know what actually failed.

The video was an example of how “other sellers” provide after sales support for their customers.

I still have a prematurely failed device, that the seller has not taken care of.

If I get a replacement, I will further investigate the failed internal power supply.
