Do time-wasting post titles aggravate hell out of anyone else?

I'm talking about posts with leading titles meant to suck us in, only to lead to worthless posts that not only waste my time with frivolous BS, but (consequently) make me boycott those posters' future posts. In many cases, if the leading title included just ONE more pertinent word, we'd know the post is not worth opening.

In my opinion that tactic used to sell lame posts is little different than hawking valueless products with snarky tactics like wild claims, overselling, and VOLUME. 

Or maybe it's just me that gets aggravated by cheap selling tactics.

Mind you, I'm not averse to leading post titles. Just leading titles that suck us into wasting time. 
 
Yes sir. Titles with no information about the subject matter, like “Need some advice” or “Anybody know about this gun?” show no regard for the many people who will waste their time on a topic for which they have no knowledge or interest.

I like helping people with airgun questions but I will deliberately skip threads that show this level of carelessness.

Instead of “Anybody know about this gun?”...

”Anybody know about the Daystate Safari?” is better.

”Shot count and energy with Daystate Safari?” is better still.

Click bait headings are easy to avoid.

What really ires me about a post is poor spelling and second, poor grammar.
In the age of spell check and voice recognition software, are people still trying to use a Smith Corona’s to type their posts??

I spend a lot of time editing many of my posts and STILL miss some things concerning grammar, etc. Spell checkers don't help. i.e. "then and than". Say no more.

You will see very few of my posts that don't have that little blurb at the bottom saying that the post was modified/edited. (chuckle)

What i think your looking for is used on Airgunforum.co.uk. It's like a sneak peek of what the post is about. After you click on the subject you want ,then by just putting your mouse over the post title a box comes up giving you a few sentences of what the subject is about. If it doesn't interest you then simply move on. It would be nice to see it used here if that's possible?

Maybe this place is too important to you? I get aggravated sometimes, but not so much from most posts here.

At the risk if irritating AirNGas (he doesn't like me !), I'm with Dave. Seems that either our schools have gone down so far in the teaching, OR, the students just don't care. I feel sorry for the teachers that read the various forums. Seeing how bad folks screw up the English language.

I'll occasionally try to actually help a person that messes up too bad in their spelling and or grammar, quietly with a PM. It's about half and half that I get back - "Thank you" vs "F**k you". I still try to help. the "thank you's" are welcome.

And like BackStop says, you'll find, "post was modified/edited" occasionally in my posts too.

I'm just getting to be a codger but I work in corporate work and the trend with people even in business is to do things like.

Email

Subject: Well per our discussion....

Subject: I think we may have something to talk about

Basically meaningless, leading subject lines that require opening the email to see what is in it. I don't open them. If it is important enough they will contact me over messenger or some other means.

Advertising copy has become a way of life at this point. Very few people can communicate in a direct and succinct way.
