Do time-wasting post titles aggravate hell out of anyone else?

So what is an example of a time wasting post?
Being the devils advocate if someone post something it must be important to them so perhaps it’s important to others?

I’m very new to this forum but I have found most of the articles entered, at the least somewhat entertaining, and in many cases very informational. But I sure haven’t read all of them 🤷

I kinda hear you on this one. I wish people would use more descriptive titles sometimes. Although I would not call it all clickbait - as I am sure not everyone who does intends it that way. Nothing to get your panties in a bind over, IMO.

Honestly, I am more irritated by the snarky replies people make under the guise of anonymity to civil threads. The way I see it usually only done to insult or otherwise boost the posters shallow ego.

This I completely agree with. For the life of me, I can’t understand why some people seem to have a need to be nasty or excessively sarcastic when replying to a post. It doesn’t matter if you disagree with the poster, a civil answer goes much further to make your point.

I'm talking about posts with leading titles meant to suck us in, only to lead to worthless posts that not only waste my time with frivolous BS, but (consequently) make me boycott those posters' future posts. In many cases, if the leading title included just ONE more pertinent word, we'd know the post is not worth opening.

In my opinion that tactic used to sell lame posts is little different than hawking valueless products with snarky tactics like wild claims, overselling, and VOLUME.

Or maybe it's just me that gets aggravated by cheap selling tactics.

Mind you, I'm not averse to leading post titles. Just leading titles that suck us into wasting time.

Interesting, so are we to start censoring the post? Humm, something about that doesn't seem right.

If your not interested, why do you click on them?

After the first viewing , why not just stop following. Seems pretty simple , plus your not suppressing the 1 Admendment.

Your choice to follow or reply.

Just so we are all clear - you are on a privately owned and hosted forum - YOU HAVE NO 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHTS HERE.

While I share your regard for free speech and am vehemently opposed to censorship, the forum rules do not read like they were modeled after the First Amendment.

"If your not interested, why do you click on them?"

I'll answer that with a hilariously similar quote- "We have to pass the bill to see what's in it".

If I recall correctly, that bill was 5,000 pages of political/legalise gibberish designed to camouflage not only the true nature of what was in it, but (more) obscene pork-belly spending\; and the vote on the bill took place less than 24 hours after copies of the 5,000 page bill were distributed to legislators voting on it.

If the post is against the rules we are obligated to follow , then imo, it's up to the moderators designated by the owners to enforce the rule, not just mob action.

Juse your use of your capitals shows me you must have some underlining issues.

Did you get scammed?

Interesting - thank you for clarifying me post here: https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/do-time-wasting-post-titles-aggravate-hell-out-of-anyone-else/page/2/#post-1082007

"Well following the post parameters, this post is a waste of time."

With all due respect, I respectfully not only beg to differ, but venture to say I speak for the majority of others that took part by saying the preponderance of evidence suggests most participants found this thread, if not particularly uplifting, or exactly 'socially-redeeming', at least in some way entertaining enough to have been worth opening my original post; that being the whole point I was trying to make from the get-go (that went right over some heads).

Agreed; I'm a-fixin' to go "Get out and throw some lead" right now!

There is absolutely nobody on a public forum that will penetrate this thick skin. Lol

Much more irritating things to worry about like the wife installing the toilet paper upside down.

Members with more tenure will see repeated questions more often and may or may not become " irritated ".

Relax and share your knowledge.

And I thought I was the only one with this problem. 😂

Maybe this place is too important to you? I get aggravated sometimes, but not so much from most posts here.

Not sure why you feel the need to gatekeep someone who has a legitimate complaint about clickbait titles?

Not saying Ron’s complaint isnt legit, just saying it shouldnt be such a serious cause for aggravation if another’s post isn’t satisfying enough. I know Ron feels he is a professional writer, and has certain standards, but it seems harsh to impose writing standards on non-professionals. I DO get a little upset at folks that a schoolmarmishly feel need to correct spelling and grammatical errors, since I am afflicted with dyslexia and DO make many spelling errors, but I don’t get “the hell aggravated out of me” over it.

I come here for entertainment, which is provided by the readership. If I didn’t have time for this, I would curtail, but I DO have time for entertainment, as I’ve been retired for 26 years, and can more or less do as I please. This is NOT to say I have time to “waste”, since I don’t really have more than a very few years left to live due to my health condition … meaning my time is really more valuable to me than ever, but using it to add to my hobby enjoyment is fine by me.

For SURE!

The upside down TP is SO aggravating, esp if the end hasn’t even been separated and right there to hand! Alos when visiting somewhere than the roll is affixed on the left wall!

On a positive note, I recently scored some good shooting pellets!
