Do tinkerers get into airgunning or....

Muddy,
Seen all kinds on this forum, talented gunsmiths to no-talent butchers. Newbies, who won't separate action from stock to tinkerers who break down new guns to component parts during first day of ownership. As in most instances the talented tinkerer can save money on upgrades and repairs, a big plus in this hobby. WM

When I was a young apprentice machinist I couldn't help myself to make things for my rifle.. even built a couple to see if I could.. now much older heading for retirement... If have to machine up something for my rifles...it's probably not gonna happen.. but todays rifle I don't have to... Twist a knob here...turn a screw there.. .. Easley swap calibers in minutes and your on your way.. today's air rifles are great... only getting better.

I normally practice on old cheap/broken stuff. Then eventually I’ll stumble across a high quality but broken item for cheap that I know I can get back to working condition. I’m just starting to get into rebuilding springers. So as of now it’s just cheap guns for me.
Here are some things I’ve restored over the years. I like “tools”. Stuff that can be used.

I've been taking things apart since I was a kid. It didn't always work out well
Et tu Brute. :)

even built a couple to see if I could
I have had a sort of functional 6 barrel 12 gauge Gatling gun ( electric with a starter motor to spin things ) sitting in storage for many many years, it is long ago turned into scrap metal.
Always had a thing for the GAU-8. Mind you like the Avenger mine was not something you would carry around, made the M134 look like a peashooter i would assume.
You could move it, maybe get it in a van or up on a trailer, but that was also it, and really being 2 to do it would have been advisable.
Also "creative " machinist apprentice.
