Do you ever get fed up with Airguns?

Maybe, and i don't doubt you. But how many manufactures are installing valves, bleed-offs and electronic monitoring systems with computer update compatability to their rifles; that the "mainstream" is willing to buy? Especially at the 3-5 times the investment that airgunners pay for these tolerance moderating features? I can't name one. Yet I've dropped $3000 more than once for such rifles. I honestly see, down the road, Firearms manufactures embracing many of the technologies airguns have pioneered; in their efforts to maximize consistency, and accuracy. Because when it comes to the tech that goes into the guns to achieve this end..? Nothing comes close to what airgun manufacturers do.
You don't need that on powders burners to make them more accurate

My dad fought tinnitus so bad after working in a steel mill all his life and Vietnam. He said it was the worst thing he had ever had. I am glad PCPs have allowed you to keep shooting. I'm not knocking air rifles I've just realized for the money and what is involved with air rifles it has not lived up to what I wanted it to be. I played with FT,EFT and mostly hunt squirrels still with air rifles. I will continue to chase the tree rats with them. The people are great just like most shooting sports.
PS I do like my 10/22 also.
I understand totally, and I am not knocking firearms at all, I just don't need them anymore. I can do what I want with airguns and I don't worry so much about ammo shortages any more, or when and where I can shoot, because no one can hear me anyway. They are just as accurate, no brass to pick up, they're awesome! I have reloaded too, 9mm, .44, 30-30, 308, 22-250 etc., THAT'S a lot of work! Load development took a while and a long time between the process and the results. Airgunning is easy compared to that, and while some things might be expensive, like a compressor, they last. The expendables in reloading are fire and forget. It was cool though. I see now that they are handloading .22RF now with 60gr VLD bullets for 600y shooting. That seems interesting to me, but too little too late. Have fun with whatever you decide.

Need? Who said anything about "need"? As the market demands... Do you doubt that adding these things would make the same guns more accurate, if done properly?

That's what I'm talking about. Never good enough, vs. good enough...
Years before the electronic air rifle Remington tried an electronic rifle that had an electronic trigger and specific ammo that used a solenoid spark to fire it. It lasted that year. No i don't because they are totally 2 different things. While all your electronic triggers, solenoids to close/open valves are done to improve accuracy and consistency in air rifles. That's all taken care of in the proper reload.

I think the biggest issue with what you are describiing is that the thing that drives most of the variability shot-to-shot is very different between PBs and airguns. With an airgun, it is the gun that controls (including variability of that control) the speed/power of each shot. But with a PB that is pretty much all on the cartridge. So the opportunities for such applications are vastly different.

I do. Life is some much easier with powder burners. I don't have to worry about temp sensitive, poi shift, reg pressures, etc. I am really trying to continue to enjoy these things but if I where to sell the whole lot of them I don't think I'd miss them. I have had all calibers and price ranges and it's all the same. Maybe if I lived in the city and had to but I live out in wheat country and can shoot anywhere and anytime.
Just me ranting.

They are fun but not my goto for serious hunting for anything. To each his own so enjoy them if that's your thing.
Airguns, to me, are the tools I need for my hobby. My job is to keep them sharp and safe so they are ready when I want to have fun using them. If my hobbies frustrate me, it means I’ve lost the reason behind “why” I fiddle with them at all. Usually my frustrations are expecting myself or the equipment to be perfect - that ain’t happening. Personally I think folks should remember pellet guns are pellet guns and stop trying to push them to powder burner territory. Just My thoughts. When I pick up a pellet gun, I don’t have to go to a range to plink for a while and I don’t need ear protection.

Ummm......both. Casual plinking especially on a Sunday I love my PCP and springer. PBs and air both have their place in my home.
I am going to add a pathfinder in 22
Have you tried field target yet?
yes it was okay but boring to me. I hate using my scope as a range finder. I'm mostly hunt. I am going to keep my maurader, my son's prod converted to bottle and a notos my wife wants for the rats. . I will add a pathfinder in 22 for hunting and that will be it. Nothing wrong with FT but i am a prs guy and just to slow for me.

I freaking love airguns. Been shooting them since I was a wee lad, some things don't grow old...

I expect certain things from my guns no matter what powers them. Reliability is first, when I want it to fire it needs to do so every time. Next is consistency. As long as I do my part it needs to group well. Third is accuracy. It takes some testing but I want it to hit where I aim. I want all of these in every gun and by and large I have it. My Anschutz makes me look bad, it’s that good. Most expensive too. I have a bolt gun in .308 that shoots minute of angle to 1000 yards but costs less than the Anschutz. The time I’ve spent loading ammo, practicing and learning has made me insist on good equipment. I have some sporters too but they still have to shoot well. I keep a pb and an air rifle in my truck. If I need one it’s likely that I REALLY need it so it has to work every time. Different tools for different uses but I won’t walk away from one or the other. Both are too much fun.

never, and I have plenty of powder burners,I like the convenience of air guns, they are plenty accurate and I can shot them in my yard,I need to travel 25 miles to shoot my powder burner.I enjoy them also ;Think of it this way,I enjoy burritos one day ,hamburgers another day ,fish another day,Fact is I enjoy all the things I enjoy :ROFLMAO:

I mean, let’s be real for a minute. There’s a reason airguns aren’t used in warfare right? I mean my main reasons for using an airgun are legalities being sort of in a halfway country halfway city area. Also so I can shoot inside the house even when my wife and dog are asleep in the next room. Air rifles in my personal opinion have their place. I can hunt realistically anything I cared to with my m3 .357 but I never really take it “in the field”. I could but I don’t really hunt big game by choice. If I did I would probably use a 6.5 creedmore and be sure I don’t need to range just perfectly, or carry as much equipment. Using the right tool for the job. In addition as someone else mentioned I have added so much onto my FX guns it’s become a hobby of collecting and looks to a certain point. My two air rifles just look cool to me. :). Best of luck to you. I can certainly understand why you would go powder burner if you have no legal reasoning to use an air rifle.

I will keep a few but I will primarily focus on pbs.

Yeah I'm not knocking you guys for liking your air guns that's fine but for me they come way short and that's just what I'm saying and the amount of money and time I invested in them to me in my eyes has not been worth it. I'm not knocking your choices sure they are fun or wouldn't have dropped thousands and thousands of dollars on them but I don't get the same satisfaction that I do from shooting my other guns. That's all I'm saying. I just like not having the hassle of all the stuff that comes with PCPs.

Like I said I can understand for the people that have to shoot in town or have to travel to a range to shoot their powder burners I can understand the use of air guns and if that was my situation that's where I would be. I am fortunate enough that I can shoot anytime I want right out my back door or my barn door at one of my ranges anytime I want so I don't have that hassle. I still shoot pistols weekly and a few of my other rifles weekly.

DR, You said it right. People (most ) in shooting sports are great. In my travels throughout the country , I've almost always found great conversation at gun shops and shooting ranges .

I remember that Rem E gun .
