Do you ever get fed up with Airguns?

Do you ever get fed up with Airguns?

I can see that people would... When you put people that really dig complications in charge of product development and production, you get complicated products and the frustrations that using them entails.

That's why I rarely ever open a thread here on how a PCP (or whatever) isn't being easy to deal with. You get the complications that you pay for. You gotta dance with the one you brung...

I'm a cornbread and beans (with chutney) kinda guy. So I'll take an old pumper or co2 gun.

Cheers,

J~

We all gravitate to the aspects of shooting that our brain likes best.
I’m new to all this and having a blast because I chose what I thought would work best for me, goals being recreational and relaxing and educational. I wouldn’t enjoy having to be working with all the mechanical needs of PCP. Not being very mechanically inclined, and in my 60’s, I was drawn to a traditional German rifle. Others would be bored, I feel accomplishment to torque the 3 screws properly.

Shoot what you like.
Like what you shoot.

this is why i am selling most all of my PCP ! i have not had any trouble with any of them but i just like the slower cycle of break barrel guns , It gives a person time to think about what they are doing right or wrong ,hit or missed .

Pretty much the only time i am relaxed is when i shoot, all the other hours of the day is me trying very hard to not let the world get to me.
among other things got a severe case of Weltschmerz https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weltschmerz
So a few years ago i threw out my TV, and i am very careful reading the news online as even clickbait headlines can throw me way off, and it is only like 1 in 10 articles i dare read, and most often with a negative outcome.

If it was up to me i would shoot, at least a little every single day of the week.

Do I ever get fed up with airguns?
Oh for sure!
Especially PCPs!

  • The almost non-existent recoil
  • The incredibly sweet (and adjustable) trigger
  • The almost silent report
  • The reliable, pin point accuracy
  • The adjustable power
  • The high level of build quality
  • Not having to clean powder residue
  • Not having to go to a range to shoot
  • Not having to ask for permission to add noise reducers
Yeah I just can't take it anymore...

LOL :ROFLMAO:

Well that's OK I'm glad you like them we will agree to disagree

Airguns are for short range work where they are of the same advantages as a powder burners but much safer. When you sneak through the woods on an old bushy tail and get close you don't need all the power and performance of a rimfire. And if you handicap yourself with short range equipment you become a better hunter.
When airguns began advertising 100+ yards shots they became less interesting to me.
I have plenty of custom long range powder burners and they have become boring because they require little skill for taking game.

This discussion and several similar reminds me of when I was hard into archery and bow hunting. I hunted big game exclusively with a bow for 20 or so years.
I would cringe whenever a new guy came to camp. Inevitably and almost certainly one evening around the fire they would say “If I would have had a gun with me I could have shot……”, well welcome to Oz Dorothy you ain’t in Kansas anymore.
The whole point of archery, airguns, fly fishing etc is that they are not the same as bait fishing, shooting guns or hunting with a PB.
If you are not interested in what makes an air tick and how it is affected by seemingly minimal outside influences best and willing to live with the limitations, stick to firearms. They are definitely simpler, more powerful and easier to master. Not saying that to put a PB shooter down, we all just have different levels of curiosity or interest.

Yeah , I agree airguns really don't excite me like other guns so I am just going to get out completely and go back to what I really enjoy. Airguns are just not my cup of tea. I don't regret trying them because that's how you make an informed decision. You guys shoot straight and enjoy. I would say keep your powder dry but with Airguns keep your air dry-lol. Be safe

MOST of the $ I've spent was in my 1st couple years of the "learning curve". Also where most of my frustration was left behind. I was fortunate enough to have chosen A) pellet shooting barrels only and B) getting 3 guns that are laser accurate, dependable & EXTREMELY low (almost no) maintenance. I spend 99.9% of my time in the field shooting & smiling! Could be the chosen PLATFORMS that cause the frustration, NOT airguns in general.
