Do you guys use IR very much ??

I do not but I ask because I ordered a brand new g3 monstrum on Amazon and the IR doesn’t work. I tried a different battery and still nothing. When I first turned the knob it turned on for a second and went off and won’t work now. I know I should send it back and Amazon is easy and awesome with that but I really want to set it up and shoot it. I honestly have never used the feature but it should work. What would you guys do ??

Definitely send it back! I use my IR for ratting purposes...a must have for night ops or dark areas.
Talked me into it. Lol. Ups is even coming to the house to pick it up Monday. Can’t beat that and just went ahead and ordered another that will be here tomorrow. Amazon is awesome.

@Trucker3573 Are all of the contacts on the battery compartment cover positioned to make contact firmly with the battery once it’s screwed on? I’d send it back if I couldn’t find a simple remedy. Maybe exchange it in hopes that you’ll receive a functional unit next go round or go with something else like a Westhunter, Vector, or Discovery scope.

I use IR when I need it in the woods. Mainly when it’s close to sunrise and sunset. Other times its handy when I shoot at darker targets shaded by plants or trees.

Yeah I even tweaked them out a little with a small screw driver and still nothing.

Honestly, I’ve owned an nv007 clip on nv for about 6 months. I’ve used it more as a monocular (which is awesome) than mounted to a scope. I mostly use a flashlight for my nighttime pesting.
That being said, having an nv at your disposal makes for being less conspicuous in the dark while scanning for pests.

@madeintheuk I believe he’s asking about an illuminated reticle (IR). Re-read the first post.

Ha! Amazon is AWESOME especially for returns! One of the main reasons most of my shopping is thru them 👍.

NEVER used IR except to turn it on when I 1st get scopes that have it. Just don't need it for what I do. Amazon has a 30 day return policy I believe so why not mount it, have some fun & THEN return it before that window closes?
Could but I already have the replacement and everything works.

As stated, I used IR when the conditions are dark/dim and I need to see my cross hair (or reticle for hold over).
OR
If the target is black. On some scopes the cross hair tends to "melt" into the black target.
