Do you need to clean the moderators that use a Tesla Valve?

Mike!

There was a member here that did a lot of work building/testing his own moderators (since been booted for violation of the rules).
He mentioned that using dishwashing soap was a good remedy for cleaning most moderators. Fill em up, shake em up, rinse and repeat.
Allow to dry thoroughly, and reinstall.
I suppose that your best bet would be to ask STO via email and get their take on cleansing. I see in another thread that you have already contacted STO on a different issue, so at least you can ask about this too.
BTW, I believe that the Falx is your best bet to use for quietness. That model works very well and is not as long as the Sarissa model (tho, I've never compared the two!).

Hey, TWO MIKES, next time we get together I'd like to try one of your STO's. What calibers do you have? Hope all's well. SCHWACKING season is coming soon!!!
Hey Gerry
I think i will be getting a Falx from the 3rd Mike's reccomendation ..it will be for a .30 cal barrel for my Epoch

I got a response from STO about cleaning a Tesla valve moderator

The cleaning is a question we get asked a lot and the answer is somewhat counter intuitive, we don't recommend you clean them. In all our testing it's pretty clear that they get quieter the more you shoot them, this is due to lead dust saturating the damping materials which improves their efficiency. They can however be cleaned if it was someday needed since they can be completely disassembled, it's just quite a process since there are many internal parts that all interlock together. Overall though we don't recommend you attempt to clean it unless something is wrong.

Best regards,
STO
