Is it plausible that an unscrupulous airgun vendor would plant a person claiming to be a customer -- one who posts glowing, albeit bogus reviews -- on this site?

The reason behind such unethical behavior being to counteract real-life (i.e. genuine) customer reviews of the true good guys in the airgun retail business.

Think about it.

Matt & Ted are sponsored by FX, right? I don't know if Michael is sponsored by anyone in particular, but the advertisement on the site are hard to miss. Giles mentioned that sponsor picked up tab for his travel, but I don't know if there is more to that. I don't know how Steve makes money. His reviews are very high quality, points out issues and tested more guns than anyone around. I have no issues with people making money just clearly state conflict of interest as part of the review.

Joe has been very clear about not being sponsored, and when I asked Tom about it for a bipod video, he said it was not sponsored either.

Are there plants? Doubtful. If someone was always saying gun xyz is the best and guys only get gun xyz people would catch on quick. Sponsership? Well gang that makes sites like this possible. So far most sponsered people have been upfront about thier sponsorship. I have no problem with reviews of sponsered items as long as their is full disclosure. Heck if any manufacturer wants me to review their guns just let me know. I would be happy to oblige. I always watch the video reviews and read the reviews with a skeptical eye. Its easy to overlook some of problems associated with a gun if you have gotten it for free. I spend a ton of time reading and watching reviews and weighing all the options before I plunk down my hard earned cash
