Does anybody ever use a thread sealant on their compressor fittings?

I have tried using Teflon tape and it only lasts a day or so when I use my Omega Super Charger. Does anybody have any experience using some kind of pipe dope for a sealant ... if so, what kind will hold up to that kind of pressure. My problem appears to be on the air output valve on top of the SC. When I use Teflon tape the pressure rises VERY well, but it only lasts a short time and I have to take the old off and put new tape on ... needs something more permanent or longer lasting

Does your output connector have a dowty seal. A dowty seal looks like a metal washer with a rubber inner edge. You don't use teflon tape on BSPP connectors which is what I think is on the Super Charger!

The fitting is on top of the compressor and it looks like a wide male fitting with a plastic o-ring in the hole on top. A steel ball with a hole in it fastens down to the plastic o-ring by a threaded encasement which screws down over the male fitting. I know it sounds weird but they changed out the fittings on the air output last year ... it used to be just a male fitting and a female quick release on top attached to the hose.

Tominco, I am new to AGN and haven't put in the necessary time to learn all the ins and outs of the forum as far a getting pics and whatever to come up for me ... all I am getting is a black box with an X in it. Presently all my time has been consumed with trying to get air in my tank for the last week or so ... trying this, trying that, talking with Todd, talking with AoA and it's just about consumed all my free time.

Rey, I fully understand what you are saying about permatex and loc tite and I agree with you about getting the right fittings but these ARE the fittings that came with the Super Charger. If they would not work correctly they shouldn't have been shipped with the compressor. I have tried simply tightening them down as well as I could to no avail, it will not hold pressure ... it will with Teflon tape but the pressure is so great that the tape doesn't last long and will start leaking after a day or so. They make a sealant named Masters Pro Dope that can be used on air compressors and hold up to 10,000 psi, it never dries hard, lubricates the metal and comes off as easy as it went on (according to advertisements). In the best possible world, I should not be having problems like this and I know it .. this unit is advertised as basically a plug and play compressor ... you plug it in, you set the pressure you want, adjust the bleed valve for time, put in the antifreeze, make sure the water pump is working and fire up the compressor and it does the rest. But it wont hold pressure unless the entire system is closed off and leak proof. The problem is that at 4500 psi a leak so small as to be almost undetectable will keep you from getting that high. Heck, I've even immersed the whole tank in the bath tub trying to see some bubbles and the only ones I've seen is a very small leak coming from the burst disk in the tank which I tightened up about 1/6th of a turn to seal it off. I'm at my wits end, Todd is at his wits end and sometimes I hear voices in my head and that's the only reason why I am to the point of trying to think outside the box and just try to find something that works ... I really don't want to have to pay the freight sending this back to Arizona. Thanks for listening to my rant ... I'll get something worked out one way or the other ... I always do ... if I don't destroy it first.
