Air Arms Does ARH (Maccari) produce full tune kits for Pro Sport/TX200 MKIII anymore?

I remember when Jim Maccari had his “anything goes airgun forum” back in the early 2000’s. In addition to being really knowledgeable about airguns (specifically springers) he’s actually a really funny guy, with a wicked sense of humor. But he doesn’t suffer fools, so there was always a few people that got bent out of shape

He used to have FAQ page (maybe still does) that would answer many questions people had.

Going to be a sad day when he retires from the airgun biz.
I would like to visit his shop and see his set up,
and talk about air gun tuning.🤔

A few years ago rumors were circulating that Jim was ill and about to retire. Apparently, this is what happens when some bozo does not get a sufficiently quick reply and starts to spread nonsense. Jim posted a notice on his website that the rumors were false, and that he has no plans to retire.

FWIW, none of the "drop-in fit / fits factory guides" springs I've gotten from Maccari over the years have actually fitted the factory guides in my guns; they have always been a little loose, and have yielded buzzy cycles as a result. Selling individual springs I don't think he has much of a choice here, given that if his spring didn't go into a factory guide by being a little too small in ID, that would be really bad for the business.

I have consistently heard the guides in Maccari's kits fit very tightly. That's where he has control of the entire powerplant.

Judging from statements on JM's website, you'd have better luck approaching our president-elect for an invitation to Mar-a-lago to talk about airgun tuning.

Having myself dealt with thousands of consumers in my decades of retail, I can sympathize with Jim's frustrations. But having been a consumer even more decades, I can also sympathize with anyone finding the ARH website 'off-putting'. 🥹

Unfortunately he no longer produces guides for the TX200/ProSport powerplants....

I can see both sides. I'd still like to visit his shop.😝

I suspect your reasoning is correct about how ARH designs their springs. My MO is to buy an ARH kit, and then a couple of extra springs as I know that the guide and top hat can likely be reused.

Hardly for those who have a LATHE or know someone who does. There are a LOT of air gunners who do ...BTW
I've made north of a 100 at this point. BEST guide is one fitted to a spring in hand !!! as the tolerances of a springs coil I.D. bounces around too much to make guides as a generic fit :cautious:
I do not own a lathe but have occasional need for a new delrin top hat and spring guide. I’m able to reduce the OD on my drill press if slightly oversized so a generic fit could work. What would be a fare price for these given spring ID? Uj

When doing In-House tuning jobs ... A Custom fitted guide and Top Hat is @ $35
