Does FX Crown MKII need adjustable scope rings

So I picked up a used FX Crown MKII with synthetic stock and it came with IPS-30 mm adjustable scope mounts.

They are not cheap, but I wonder if I really need it? My understanding is the crown mkii has a 20 MOA angle built into the picatinny scope rail. Or do you think they were just to get the sight line better, since it doesn't have an adjustable cheek piece?

You are correct about the 20moa rail. They are nice so you can get the lowest bore axis possible with a magazine inserted. I have a 0 moa rail (Mk1 Continuum) and I ditched my adjustable rings and magazine for an even lower bore axis. I just use a single shot tray. Or a hatsan magazine, lol. Nova star mag fits over the barrel and is snug there, but isn't snug on the underside. Regardless, it stays put, and it works. And I can lean it way over on its side in the crown.

I run the eagle vision rings on mine and the wife's crowns....For me it comes down to being able to max out my "Up" adjustment. When I set my ZERO stop I like it less then 1 turn from bottoming out. Since I dial it makes it easy to get back to my zero without having to remember how many turns from the bottom I am zero'ed at. I have a Vortex Golden Eagle scope and for me to get 150 yards out it is over 2 full turns up....With the adjustable rings I have no worries at all, plus to use the FX mags the adjustable rings can be set up to the lowest possible position for the mags to fit under the scope.....We have never had an issue at all with the adjustable rings.

Everybody's "long range" is different. When I started for me it was 50 yards, now 150 is doable.

Depends on what you want. I like my rings high, and I still needed adjustable rings to clear the magazine with my scope.

As far has if you have the scope high enough and are wondering if you need more angle… what are your shooting? If shooting really long range, 20MOA might not be enough to get you as far as you want (depends on your scope). OR… are your shooting a ver short distance, 50 yards and under, but want your scope optically centered for the distance you are shooting most?

I have had both situations before. I have needed more than my 20MOA rail to reach long distance when shooting 22lr, but haven’t needed them for that reason shooting air rifles, but I don’t shoot more than 100.

I currently have adjustable rings on my FT rifle and want them adjustable so I can get my rifle zeroed close to the optical center for best use of the center. Probably doesn’t help a lot, but it can’t hurt when focus is so important.
