I’ve been wondering about a moderator with a small chamber filled say 50% with a fluid or a gel. Would it have some beneficial damping effect. Imagine filling such a thing with magnetic fluid and making it tunable like a magnetorheological shock absorber in a performance car.
As an Automotive Hotrod engine builder, I can see where this absolutely has the ability to work in Theory. On engines, if I replace the standrd Harmonic Dampener with a Fluidampener , it decreases the the harmonics thru the rotating assembly a lot better, making for a much much smoother running engine. However there are other factors that help along the way, but this is a big contributor to the overall performance of the engine/vehicle.
