Donny FL Sumo size for Walther Reign (Euro version)?

Greetings,
I'm new to the forum and to air gunning and excited about all the fun I'm going to have! I've been shooting since I was a kid, but now (in my 60s), I'd like to try something different. To that end, I've purchased a European version Walther Reign .22, mostly for pest control here on the farm, and would like to put a DonnyFL Sumo moderator on it. There are 2 versions: .177/.22 and .22/.25. I've been told that because I can screw this moderator right on to the threaded end of the barrel, I should go with the .177/.22 version. Just checking here to make sure that sounds right? Thanks!!
Mike

Get a Huma 40. It's better than the Sumo...
I’m new to this, but I respectfully disagree. I’ve done a lot of homework on moderators and I’ve watched PJ’s comparison video which was reported on the forum. All of PJ’s reviews seem to be thorough and well done. I’d rather go with the DFL. Thanks for your opinion, though. 😊

Anyone out there who can answer my original question?

Cool. I've own both. The Huma is better on my .22 pcps. But if you like the videos better, so be it.

By the way. Read the DFL site recommendations. It says get it over size for caliber. Their tolerances are not great so they hedge their bets...

I am interested in the original question, but, as one poster mentioned, it is not being addressed. Can someone weigh in here? I enjoyed reading the opinions about moderators, but it's the original question I came to the thread for, kindly put. Thank you. S7
Actually the original question WAS addressed in the video linked in the post above yours. It was addressed by a very highly respected member of the industry who understands the law and the technology. Infact by the vendor who builds the moderator in question.

However, the video explains that shrouds which are threaded for a moderator are sometimes not perfectly concentric with the bore, or not supported solidly enough to allow the addition of a moderator (no matter how well made) made for the specific caliber of the airgun. The vendor then recommends selecting a moderator of one caliber higher than the caliber of the gun to allow extra clearance and prevent pellets clipping the moderator. In the video Donny explains that this problem is less severe (or does not exist) with guns that have threaded barrels (1/2 UNF x 20 -- which seems to be a defacto AG industry standard ??because it is not as common in the firearms industry??). So with guns which are already threaded one can purchase a moderator of the specific caliber for the rifle.

Hope you find that helpful.

Greetings.
It was precisely this material you mention that was the original question and was answered in the video. I was politely referring to the other posts that were comparing brands of moderators.
Yes, the video is very helpful and we are actually agreeing. The video warns about moderators on guns that have free-floating barrels. They may suffer clipping. Again, all very helpful.
Thanks.
