Anybody ever think about doing this?? I just bought a .177 dreampup off of this website and this thing is loud pushing jsb 10.34s at 840fps.. (best speed I ended up with for accuracy) so I threw a tanto on it.. still kinda loud-ish being that I only have moderators for .25 guns.. so i decided to experiment with the tanto being ita kinda rough looking anyway.. I measured the exit hole to be a little over 8mm.. way too big for the little 4.5mm pellet... So i grabbed a 5/16 drill bit and it fit perfectly in the exit hole which meant I could use a 3/8-16 tap and it will fit perfectly... So I threaded it and made an insert with a 7/32 hole (closest to 5.5mm I had) and 3/8 threads to screw into the moderator.. screwed it all together and it works perfectly... Cut the noise waaaay down.. the whole moderator has the same size hole through it so I'm wondering how much more quieter I would be able to get it if i could size all the holes down . They don't have enough meat for introducing threads into them.. For now I'm happy because I don't have to buy another moderator.. there was absolutely no clipping and the poi didn't change... One hole accurate at my usual 25 yard sparrow spot... Very pleased.. so if you ever wondered, yes you can repurpose those .25/.30 cal Donnys
