DonnyFL Tanto on 30 FPE?

Hello, what is everyone's experiences with the DonnyFL Tanto on a ~30 FPE gun?

I have a Taipan Veteran Long .22 that is tuned to around 31 FPE. I have the Koi on it and have been quite happy with it for the past 3 years I've had it. I'm thinking of buying the Tanto because I'm trying to get the rifle as short as possible The Tanto will give me 2" additional clearance, but I'm just not sure of the performance compared to the Koi.

I have a Tanto 177/22 and Tatsu 22/25 that I’ve tried both on a 30fpe BRK Concept XR. I prefer the Tatsu for accuracy and sound suppression. The Tanto is acceptable on my 18fpe and 177 Revere.

Thank you for the reply. How do you like that quick disconnect mount? That's one option I'm thinking about.

My issue is even though I've been happy with the Koi, I'm getting tired of the long gun case I carry my gun in. I just ordered a Pelican that is 40" outer width with 36.5" inner clearance. The Koi is attached directly to the Taipan Veteran's barrel without the barrel shroud. The total length is 35.5" which gives me only 1" total clearance at both ends. The Tanto will save another 2". I guess worst case scenario when I actually have to ever travel by air with the gun, I can always just remove the Koi to give much more clearance on the muzzle side. Another option I thought about was that quick disconnect. I really don't like screwing and unscrewing the Koi on my gun because of how close the LDC is to the air cylinder. Do it enough times and both will be scuffed up pretty good. At least with the quick disconnect, it's a quarter twist.

I had a tanto on a seneca 2500 carbine in 25 caliber pushing 80 fpe. Only did it so I could test over my chrony in the basement since it was all I had and I didn't want my ears to bleed lol.

Did it work? Yes. Did it over power it? Ooohhh yeah. It was blowing the felt out of the little relief holes.

30-40 fpe should be just fine. The koi is much quieter though. I have one on a 55 fpe 25 cal and all I hear is hammer/bottle ping and pellet smack.

Thank you for the replies. I decided to order the Tanto anyways just to see. I Photochopped an image of the Koi to around the same length as a Tanto to give me an idea of what it will look like. I still like the look of the Koi overall but the Tanto length is starting to grow on me. As for sound moderation, I am expecting the Tanto to be a bit louder than the Koi but for my usage of backyard varmint control, I think it should be ok. Most of the time, I only get 1 shot every few days or sometimes even weeks. If I'm going to test the gun and do some target practice, I will just use the Koi in those situations to keep the neighbors oblivious to what's going on.

The case I have now is a Plano 51.5" outer length. The Pelican I bought is 40" overall length. You might ask why not just buy the next size up... well, the next size up for the Pelican Storm is already 47" length which is not that much different than my current one. What's more, with my gun with the Koi, I'll have 8" clearance inside which I think is just way too much. With the 40" case, it already has enough room for the gun, the bipod, rangefinder, binoculars, and a small utility box.

Koi edited to around the same length as a Tanto
