Downsizing pictures

Id just want to recomend when you post photos in a thread to downsize them so the thread and pictures load up a bit faster. Its not hard to do and a lite editor should fo it hassel free. I use a app called pocket paint on mt android devices .

If i have a picture to post and its 1.5 mb i use that editor and reduce/ resize it to say 30kb or whatever . Dont seem to affect quality at all and pictures load up near as fast as the text.

So many threads i go to view and abandon cause there pictures take forever to load so i move on ..

I also imagine the sites server / storage would appreciate it it too.lol

Do mine post ok?👀😅
I feel what you are saying too🎩🤙
Seems , i dont know.. just so many take forever..lol. I dont live in a area that the latest high speed fiberoptic. Anyway i feel to me it really takes away from a guys posting id normally be real intrested in cause pictures take forever to load..

Especially if there are several pictures .

10 pictures at 2mb each loading vs the same all totaling just 2mb .., ya know . What thread going to zip right in ?..lol

I whole heartedly agree with rescaling photos. A big help before even reducing in size is cropping - get to the meat of the matter. I don't care what your pillows or kitchen look like - I just want to see the gun (or whatever the item of interest is).
Yaaaaa, buttttt... I'm so just a slave to fashion and got to show out , ya know.🤤

I live in an area where satellite Internet is the best we can get at our home, so anything except pure text is slow or downright glacial. But it varies a lot. Sometimes I can download and view a 15-minute video, while other times it won’t even load a 10-second one! I, too, sometimes give up trying to load a page—not just on this site, either.

I crop photos right on the iPad, but the photo app offers nothing to actually reduce the file size.

You'd think the apple app store has somthing lite and easy to use . I ise a app to do mine. Pretty easy just add/ get 1.8mb photo , select resize, use % slider ( i do from 100 to 25%) , click ok , then crop if needed click ok then save image . So the saved image was 1.8 mb is now saved at whatever kb size that then i use like for here..

Also the original photo is still original in files as well so i have the original + the resized copy .
(Android device)

i take pictures with Iphone .then Email to my PC and send as small from my phone to PC. seems to be right size
Can't say. Though seems a lot of work for that simple action. Ive never use apple for anything ever so ???

All you can do is see for example if the original camera photo is 1mb then the picture you use is say 86kb then ya it works . Then 1mb is 1000kb so you see the download speed / filesize van be you can do 10 pictures for what the one original ones worth.. ( also helps reduce filesizes on your phones storage).

I dont know outside i open some threads and its pictures just snail in at best and i just leave tired of waiting for them to load up . I guesd they did not want me to see them anyway 🤤

Im in a poor rual area that dont have topend fiber optic not even cable, heck hard line here is still 1990's 56k

Im surprised the forum dont have a size limit to start.

Having worked in IT from the past 20+ years I can tell you for a fact at the current time digital storage has become a commodity item and no one thinks or cares about how much space something take up any longer. 1 GB of cloud storage is penny's on the dollar right now. Apple gives you 5GB for free with an account. Gmail has a limit of 15GB.

Resizing images for the web is very late 1990s early 2000s. Many platforms run on javascript which loads the images as you scroll rather than all at once.

So while I feel for your slower internet speeds, I can guarantee you the extra photo work will get zero traction here or any other current website. Just the way it is.

Doing this to every picture just to post it is a PIA off of a phone it would remind of being on GTA and having posts that won't go through because the pictures are to big

I mean how hard is it like 10 seconds hard? Take picture open it in app resize with a slider save it and post it ? Sounds more to lazy then hard. Then having a lite usefull editor that quick and simple 3 /4 step process helps. Or you just let things out smart you . I dont know🤤

Bit like i said id like to see your pictures but then i dont have to . Dont load up timely i just bale out of your thread or post and move on to ones that will and do.. you got 8 pictures at 12mb yrying to load vs the same 8 that maybe 1mb. Ya, i dont need to see your stuff that bad ..

A quick and easy way is to text the image to yourself. An added benefit to that is once you download the image all the resized pics end up in the same folder.
Ya, ive said in a way these frivolous pictures resized and saved can free up lots of storage on a device like a phone where 10 pictures take less space than 1 stright off the camera did. You know not just use like forums but tesized makes any thing go fqst like emailing off them to someone zip zap pow its gone and sent.. pretty much save clogging up things at both ends for you and them

I'm not trying to derail the topic, but I've been a holdout for phones that have a headphone jack and sd card storage. My 2020 Moto is going to have to be replaced in the next year so I just started paying Google 1.99 a month for 100 gig of cloud storage.

Iv been trying to do the same thing?but i caint copy and past the pic's into my picture? i just use a old didge camera and put the chip into the laptop. Not near as good as the phone pic. but ya now what it is.
