Downsizing pictures

Having worked in IT from the past 20+ years I can tell you for a fact at the current time digital storage has become a commodity item and no one thinks or cares about how much space something take up any longer. 1 GB of cloud storage is penny's on the dollar right now. Apple gives you 5GB for free with an account. Gmail has a limit of 15GB.

Resizing images for the web is very late 1990s early 2000s. Many platforms run on javascript which loads the images as you scroll rather than all at once.

So while I feel for your slower internet speeds, I can guarantee you the extra photo work will get zero traction here or any other current website. Just the way it is.

I've been in IT 15+ years. You sir are correct.

Seems , i dont know.. just so many take forever..lol. I dont live in a area that the latest high speed fiberoptic. Anyway i feel to me it really takes away from a guys posting id normally be real intrested in cause pictures take forever to load..

Especially if there are several pictures .

10 pictures at 2mb each loading vs the same all totaling just 2mb .., ya know . What thread going to zip right in ?..lol
I live in an area where satellite Internet is the best we can get at our home, so anything except pure text is slow or downright glacial. But it varies a lot. Sometimes I can download and view a 15-minute video, while other times it won’t even load a 10-second one! I, too, sometimes give up trying to load a page—not just on this site, either.

I crop photos right on the iPad, but the photo app offers nothing to actually reduce the file size.
Those satellite companies will throttle you when you reach their limit, then when the month renews your back up and running. When I moved I had cable on my new property, and it is fast.

That is exactly what they’re doing, according to both our provider contact and observations of dates.
Almost like a bait and switch ..lol.

We offer you all this never sern before high speed internet , bla, bla ,bla...

Its good till you actually use it . Lol.

Bit ots the pictures. Like my threads with resized full of pictures ( and others around). They load up as fast as the text . You get to view them .

Then theres threads like crows , What springer you shoot today the text loads but there i sit 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 + second's and still waiting for any picture to load. I know you post pictures for others to view but afyer my 10 seconds i just click out and move on to a thread that do load up quick to see and enjoy what you got going on. Thats all.
 
I have zero issue ever loading anything on this site so I will continue to just post my pictures right from the gallery, I get it may be annoying to a few but I am sure most don't actually have this issue. Im into airguns for my leisure , that includes the social mediaing etc ....

These an option to load thumbnails. I'm only guessing that that function would help. Then if the thumbnail interest you you can click to have a better view? Screenshot_20230523_125607_Gallery.jpg
 
Thumbnails are absolutely a desired courtesy. It isn’t a matter of bandwidth or saving storage for me. Particularly when viewing on my phone, having to scroll through someone’s obnoxiously large picture they didn’t bother to resize or crop is rude.
Well I know I've been doing large photos. I hate to think myself as rude, maybe slow to the party?

I think text in a quote . The thumbnails show as pictures in the thread (r9-30y), right ? There showing as pic for me .(???).

What i forgot was i thumbnailed pics that i already downsized as habit..lol

I do them all and add to files then deleat the camera ones to save lots of storage space on the phone. .. lots of.
