The raw aluminum 1/2x20 adaptor for the 16mm barrel on my USFT has always bugged me a bit.
So last night I dressed it up some.
Removed the set screws first, then gently went over the areas I wanted black with 500 grit sandpaper, mostly to remove the oxidation and get to fresh aluminum.
Put on a delrin thread cover for a convenient "handle."
Degreased with denatured alcohol and then rubbed some Alumiblack on it. Took a couple applications to get the color I wanted.
The Alumiblack leaves a pretty dull effect so glossed it up with an old can of clear spray paint I had sitting on the shelf. Should help the aluminum keep the black color better too.
Final product....
Quick, easy little project. Feels like it matches the endcap on the tube and the other hardware in that general "muzzle" end of the gun better now.
Poor man's anodizing. lol
