Drives me ****ing crazy when manufactures will post a max fps or fpe for a certain pcp but don't include the weight of the slug / pellet they used to come up with those numbers. Also, when they don't state if it's available unchoked. Trying to compare different rifles and just annoyed, hard to get apples to apples comparison

I find it hard to take a product seriously if it lacks basic specifications.

you could say that about any item you read an advertisement about.. Advertising relies on what is not stated and the public gullibility, not to do more research .
Case in point "This Gamo pellet rifle shoots 1250 Feet per second . "

For me being new to air guns just trying to find the hard facts about a rifle is almost impossible. Its hard to wade through the bull poo when every review sounds like the p.o.s. they have is the best possible ever. This fourm has helped me alot trying to pick the next gun theres alot of honest opinio s here with real world knowlede about airguns here. Even though im not sure whats next yet im still wading in poo lol

Well just figure that those light pellets flying that fast are probably shooting like crap and velocity is not the only factor to chase.

Just like guys posting patterns and extreme spread with no data on the range they were shooting.

Or marketing a rifle as 1000 fps and not telling you it's with a kitty litter pellet.

If you don't have all the details an assessment of the results is meaningless.

Wipe off your boots and get an HW springer. Any of them. Never step in a turd again.

I figure I'll get some sh!t on my cowboy boots when I get a PCP. But the guys here are going to help keep the stink at a tolerable level.

There is a bunch of good experience here. These guys have just about seen it all I think. Most of them are able to keep that odd chromosome tucked into their pants and tell it like it is.

I'm knocking shotgun shells around at 80 yards with one right now.

Here is a couple of evil doers that were standing at 50 yards.

With sh!t that solid you never need to wipe.

I agree they aren't as perfect as they should be. There are often things that need ironing out. But they are a mighty good platform to start with even if they aren't perfect.

Definitely do some research, it’s not that hard. Determine what you want to do. You’ll find a few that do more than one thing well but if you want just one that does it all, forget it. Like most things shooting is a compromise. Want a good 10 meter gun? How much do you want to spend? Chasing shotgun shells around at 80 yards is a different critter and it will chase those evil invaders around at 60 pretty well too. Are you wanting to control pests or put something in the pot? Now you need something that handles well, isn’t too heavy and you can adjust quickly for different distances. Then you have to determine what pellet the gun likes best. You’ll find a ton of good information and good people here and You Tube has a lot more. You’ll end up with three or four as you learn more and get more serious about it. And practice. A lot. The good new is that it’s great fun and has many practical uses.

Yeah I agree absolutely. Things like choked vs unchoked, real not nominal caliber, barrel twist rate... and posting not FPS, but FPE with a variety of projectile weights... that would go a long way. Right now it's nearly impossible to fully characterize airgun without spending many hours of research
