I finally did it. They fell from the bench to the deck and it wrecked so many of them! The soft JSB skirts on so many of them were bent just from the fall, and I bent more trying to pick them up. And the ones between the boards are all dusty and gritty. I’m going to write them off. What a terrible sound a new tin makes as it hits the ground upside down and without the lid.

I feel your pain.. That actually happened to me the other night. Brand new tin.. with the lid off, the tin literally just toppled over in my hands. I saved some.. but the skirts bend so easily. I think I lost about 75 easily.

I keep such pellets and use them when shooting very close range or need to check muzzle velocity for some reason.

You can repair and reround the bent skirts with a large phono jack to make them concentric again.

A couple of neodymium magnets in the tin should prevent that.. Also use a piece of cloth or a sock and a vacuum cleaner.. Make a "pocket" in the vacuum cleaner hose and secure with rubber bands or clamps... Use it suck them up.. Hold over a container and shut the vacuum off..

Dave just pick them up and wash them is warm soapy water. Put them back in the tin. Then when you shoot use something (like Yo suggested) small and round to repair the skirt before you shoot them. All will be fine.

As cosmic said, neodymium magnets are what I use to hold a tin to my gun tote in FT. I can literally pick up the tote with the tin in place.

Yup, been there done that several times over the years I like cosmic's sock and vacuum idea and I do it like Yo if to many are damaged. They need to be clean so oldspook's info is good too. This is a great place for gleaning good ideas for sure.

You think that's a mess, try dropping a whole tin of pellets in fine pea gravel. Talk about a pain in the ass trying to pick out the pellets. At least they were .22 and not .177. A pellet sizer does wonders for those damaged skirts.
