Dropped gun?

I had a terrible thought last night.
Anybody ever drop a fine target rifle with an expensive scope on a concrete floor?

What was the damage. Makes me sick to even think about it.

It did not happen to me . But did it happened to you?
My leshiy classic dropped scope first from an AC unit from 4.5feet onto concrete. The rim of the scope was slightly bent but no internal damage to the scope vector veyron 3-12x44ffpw

Don't know when the ex did this but it had to be a few days before we left for WI deer hunt season some 35 years ago. Could not understand why my 6mm 788 Rem and my self missed a really nice buck at apx 100 yards open field no weather problems 3 shots even ( no I am not that bad a shot at that time I had an avg. in competition of apx 98 out of 100@ 200yard off hand) when we got home, mentioned that i really blew it, then she told me she had dropped the rife while looking for something in my shop,. Changed rifles and did collect a little 4 point and a nice doe. ( learned a long time ago to always have a back up) Should have filed for divorce right then, in stead of getting blindsided 10 years later.

This is a post of mine from 2022. Gun didn't get dropped per se but got knocked down. The responses were great. Like how guys relate to another guy getting kicked in the privates. They could FEEL my pain! 🤪
Title was "ANXIOUS MORNING! Thought I screwed the pooch!"

Jul 28, 2022
Thought I'd get out for a few hours this morning at one of my permissions & deal with the ground squirrels there. Was checking zero on my FX Boss & as (almost) always my 1st 3 shots were through the center of the bullseye. My gun was on a Caldwell Dead Shot tripod that I use for that purpose. Turned my back for a second when a strong gust of wind somehow knocked everything over. My guns are pristine even though they've been through a number of years in the field with me. First thing I thought of was that its beautiful stock had gotten marred but I realized when it fell it landed (on rock) on the windage turret of my Sidewinder! F**k ME!!. Took a shot at my zero targets & she was shooting 10 feet to the left & 4 feet down! OH NO, OH NO, OH NOOOOO!!!!! I can't afford a new Sidewinder (absolutely LOVE that scope). I can't afford ANYTHING truth be told. You have to understand, that setup & I have become "ONE". I can always depend on it to ALWAYS give me what I need if I'm doing MY part. Spent two hours unmounting & remounting the scope numerous times & could not get things right. Finally the last time mounting it, a miniscule little pebble dropped from the tightening "jaws" of my front scope ring. When I took a shot I was 1 inch to the right of the bullseye, a couple clicks, next 3 shots through the same hole, just what I've come to expect & LOVE! Really thought I'd screwed the Pooch for good on my setup. SOOO glad it's back to normal. I just had to vent. Was REALLY surprised at how this affected me emotionally. Guess my relationship with my guns is deeper than I'd thought. Felt for a couple hours like a best friend died.

I remember a video on the airgun channel where Nate had a gun fall off a stand and hit the ground think it was a huban man as he put it that's super F%$#ed maybe he will chime in and share his thoughts and feelings on the subject???

Hey Iowa,
Back in 1993 I spent about 3 months making a Thompson Center Renegade (muzzle loader).
Had it custom blued … the whole 9 yards.

I was so happy the way it turned out, I ran down to my neighbors house to show him.
Unfortunately, I forgot to zip the rear of the soft case and the gun came out and skipped down the cement sidewalk as I ran.

You don’t know the depth of a anguish I felt as I sat on my couch looking at the
destruction🫣.

I had an Anschutz 2002 pcp target with a beautiful blue laminate stock and my neighbor dropped it, no more than 18" onto a concrete floor, and it broke like glass! I NEVER thought laminate woud break like that, I was stunned. It also, shredded a bit at the break. I was able to clean it up and bolt it, epoxy it and it worked fine but the break was easily visible, because I had to remove wood that feathered and fill it with acraglass, but it was completely smooth and of no real problem. The scope was an SWFA 10x and it hit the bell and put a flat spot in it, but still worked fine.

As Forrest Gump said, "it happens", you just gotta get over it, that's life...not pretty, but functional.

I guess what got me thinking about it was lending other people a gun. I’m not sure I could do that.
I let my niece's boyfriend shoot my hatsan hydra a few years back. I was hesitant, but didn't want to look like an ass by saying no. He was 21 at the time so not a baby either.

This moron rested the floating barrel/shroud on the deck rail and then set back into position, pushing his weight onto the gun.

The barrel was flexing up a good 1/2" and he missed way high on the target. He got one shot off and I said that's enough.

I had leaned my Kral Jumbo against the garage door frame to reload the mag. I set it up, it was solid. I gave it a good 3 second look and it didn't budge. I turn around and here clunk clunk thud!

Bent my scope right at the scope ring and it tilted the objective bell down a few degrees and put a small dent in the stock. Scope wouldn't hold zero anymore and shot 2 foot low lol.

It's now a spotting scope.

I dropped my AA s510 last summer at a FT shoot. The stock broke off at the grip. That has to be the worst feeling for a gun you love. Luckily a smith repaired it for a bottle of Pendleton whiskey.
