Camera is down for a bit, but I have a HW97K blue laminate in .177 with an earlier stock design. What years did they run the stock style without the sand bag cutout and not angling in the front of the stock which gives the feathered look of the laminate layers? From what I found on you tube, guessing this style ran 5 to 10 years ago? Pictures are just screen captures shots from U-tube posting - not mine, but darn near looks the same.

All the stock blanks are similar in panel thickness. The shape mostly determines the feathered look you're talking about. Color density does affect it a little. Color density of the different color panels occasionally changes by era. They started deep, then got pale. Probably a cost and time saving process. Deeper coloring requires more dye and I imagine more time to air out. Luckily it seems newer stocks are returning to the deeper colors. There's probably only a few maybe, a couple manufacturers of the laminate blanks. You will see the same color combinations repeated by several gun and stock manufactures under different color names.

The bag rider cut out is post 2020. Or there abouts
