eBay restrictions on California buyers - I’ve had enough!

I lived in the state of Mass which airguns were legal to buy and sell, but there were some municipalities that outlawed possession of them. So to stay safe Amazon and others deny sales the entire state. I believe it is a smart business decision on their part.
Ditto for CA. BUT some individual sellers with half a functional brain will do it no issue. I tried to get a laminate stock for my Savage .17 HMR, nope not happening, it's 'restricted' yeah maybe but...not where I live, hunted around found a little shop just over then border in Nevada and after few day a nice stock, that needed a lot of modification to fit but it looks cool.

Hi there AGN. I know there have been some similar posts to this, but I’d like to take a moment of your time. As you may know, eBay has decided that even though they are perfectly legal, California buyers are not allowed to purchase Airguns through eBay. We are allowed to sell on eBay, but not buy.

I’ve spoken to a chat representative, who wasn’t helpful. I can post the chat logs, but the gist of it was he didn’t even know California was a US State. I kept asking him questions to the point where he said he would send this matter to an “escalation team” that would get back to me in 48-72 hours. (I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they actually do.)

Here’s where I’d like your help:

My plan is to combat their reasoning, if they have any, that forbids the sales. I suspect they will say that CA law states you must be 18+ to buy them, to which I plan to respond with item numbers on eBay of sex toys, play boys, and drug/tobacco paraphernalia.

Any other ideas? We’ve got smarter people here than I, surely someone can see an angle that I can’t.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I spent hours over 2 days being “escalated to a specialist”, and each “specialist” seemed to have less knowledge. Kept pulling my hair out and thought to check here.
Their conclusion was that my bids were blocked because the vpn created a mismatch with my address on file, which is obviously ludicrous, since that would mean you could only bid from your zip code on file.
At any rate, the bids are blocked and ebay could not care less about sellers getting less bids and a lower sale price for their airguns. And I agree with the other member stating “ebay customer service” is just a third party in the Philippines. Ridiculous all the way around.

It’s certainly ridiculous. I’ve put an AZ address in, and have been able to make my bids just fine. It is clearly a shipping location blocking policy that is unwritten.

The representative said an escalation team would get back to me within 72 hours, but that time has come and gone with no update.
