Igolfat8 well done. This is a great way to to make a start. It’s good to see shooters having a go and doing this for the first time. That’s one of the aims of the challenge

Yes...a 220 is a good card. If you can find a scope with some more magnification...I think it will be easier for you. Maybe something around double what you have. It’s just easier to aim when the reticle doesn’t cover everything up.

Thanks for the suggestion Mike. I have been considering the Sightron 36 or 45X scopes but they only have a single center dot. How would I use that reticle to compensate for the hold offs for wind?
BTW, off topic slightly but thanks for posting the links to reading wind, in another thread. I am trying to sift through that info. Trying to understand the math is hard for me to visualize right now. Seems like a Kestral wind meter might be quite helpful? Are you other guys using wind meters?

I’m using a Leupold 40x competition scope with a mildot type reticle that was installed by their custom shop. On certain targets you can use a regular crosshair and use the target rings as your holdoff guide. That’s what is done in 25m and 50y. I used my Sightron 36 at first, but went to this Leupold because I could see the target better since it’s more clear.
The holdoff article I posted was mostly for FT...but can have some use BR.

Read your article on Scoring. Very helpful and I cannot believe I have been at this for almost a year using wobbly wooden sticks with the normal wind considerations at the outdoor range. If anyone has a couple of suggestions for purchasing ( I don't want to make my own ) from Amazon or other, please PM me so we don't derail the EBR target thread. Same question for buying scoring .224 plugs. I am sure a much more solid stand can only help me with some of the shots I am taking.
So, shot 3 cards and only post this one as the other two were experiments with NSA slugs at 33g, which did not do well. I normally clean the RW .25 ART Poly barrel with patches before I go, so also not 100% sure some of this was reflecting a dirty barrel or not. No execuses, just ran out of time and did not bring my cleaning stuff with me at the range. Also, not sure how to score the miss on the first upper left target. Is it a '3" or a "6." Or heaven help us, a big fat ZERO!!
I'm SLOWLY getting a bit better with wind, but going to check out Mike's wind article as well. I have to add a side note here as well. Those .22 caliber guns shooting the JSB Monster RDs are kicking butt!

Keep at it, that bottom right target is what you’re looking for. Nice! Yes, let’s just count misses as a 6. At regular competition the targets go to a 4, and misses are counted as a 3.

Close but no cigar. Middle right target probably had an undersized pellet as I shot directly from the tin and don’t know where that drop came from. Winds light 4 to 5 mph but shifting 10:30 to 1:30. Upper left five shot group under 1/2 inch C2C. 230-4X. 100 yards .22 Daystate Bleu Wolf HP - RD Monsters at 990 FPS. Deep cavity (newer version) JSB Monster RD.

If this shows up twice, my appologies...country internet is questionable sometimes. Power tuned cricket. 25 34gr jsb, 100yds. Embarrassed to say hole above 5th bull was first shot at sighter target. Oops. My best guess at score feel free to correct. 225?

I just realized something on my target, actually more of a feature on my printer software. I can print, "fit to paper" and I get the print out that I shot above. Notice that the "information only" is cut off? Also up at the top of the page "Team Centercut" gets cut off.
Well I adjusted my printer SW to "print to printable area" and I got a target that is not cutting off any of the text and of course the targets themselves are smaller.
Notice the 9 Ring 1.185" on one target and 1.252" on the second target.
See below the two pics....so which one should we be using?

I think I just answered my own question? The AOA website has the dimensions of their targets. I appears that the 9 ring should measure 1.250, which correlates with the picture of the target that has "INFORMATION ONLY" cutting off the box, but not the letters. Also "Team Centercut" at the top could be cut off a little as well. Am I on the right track?

Yup. I measured the 8 ring at exactly 2.0 inches on mine, and it cuts off Team Centercut just a bit. I choose print actual size not print to fit.

Triman (Jim) - nice shooting on those two cards! I will rejoice if/when I shoot a 220 or 225 card. Try as I might, I can’t seem to get similar scores on my .25 cal Safari. Doesn’t matter if I shoot JSB 25 or 33g MK2’s; I struggle with consistency and reading wind. I am doing a couple of things incorrectly though, so until I begin to use wind flags and buy a much more solid target stand (that does not wobble in wind), I can’t expect to improve scores. A lot of this is due to shooting skill too and improving skills; which will happen over time hopefully.
re. Card stock - I have used both 85 and 110 pound card stock from Office Depot, with fresh card board backing. I replace my card board backing every other range outing. The holes are much more defined and you can spend $30-40 and get a lot of EBR targets printed.

Mike B (CC) - Assume first weekly challenge is closed, so here is my post for the 2nd week. Not sure I will get out again this week.
Some marginal improvement, a slightly more stable stand (not great) using some wedges at bottom, and still no wind flags. Wind was light and it was about 84 degrees and humid. Today, I tried the NSA 33g. slugs again and had better success. I chrono'd them and on high power they were shooting in the low 920's average FPS. Here are two EBR cards and one NUAH card. I am beginning to think that possibly I should try some of the other NSA slugs from 25g to 30g and shoot them a bit faster. Any thoughts?
P.S. I wish JSB made a .25 or .30 caliber "pellet" that could shoot as well as the .22 JSB 25g RDs!! Then I could stop wasting time trying out slugs. Wouldn't that be nice!

Whoa, that upper right target is impressive! I hadn't thought about going week today week but sine you’re the best so far in the .25 slugs category you’re on the Hall of Fame!
