Edgun LESHIY 2 (Accuracy Issues)?

A stock 250mm gun shooting a can at 150yards with a 50gr pellet on film over and over vs the opinion of a guy whom heard from a guy who owned one. makes sense.

The few videos I saw shows around 1 inch group at 50 yards which is pretty good for how short the barrel is and for what the gun is, it's not a bench rest gun, I think people just need to be realistic on what the gun is meant for. It has more than enough accuracy to shoot critters but I do find super light guns are hard to keep steady for an accurate shot, maybe few people realize the super compact gun doesn't fit their shooting style not necessary the gun isn't accurate. It's interesting to me that some people opted for the 450mm barrel and making the gun into what it really isn't, I can see those folks might realize it's not what this gun is all about. I bet very new 250mm barrel L2 owners would sell theirs because I freaking love that version even though I can't justify it whatsoever.

i am hoping for a 75 yd gun..

Very few people have the talent to shoot 75 yards freehand or even leaning against a tree. With a good Scope to see well enough at 75 yards and a bipod the L2 isn’t so light anymore or isn’t so Leshiy anymore(to me). If I were to ever get one I would get the 250mm version with MTC atom so the whole thing is super light and fit in the backpack. Anything further than 50 I would rather just shoot slugs out of my impact aka “freaking laser beam”.

I've had several semi auto guns with a similar type hammerless valve and rotating magazines. They are more tricky to get as accurate other PCPs. The alignment and timing of the magazine into the barrel is critical. Often you will need extra lubrication or an harder alloy to make the transition into the barrel as least violent as possible on the pellet. It just takes more time to figure out. Once you figure it out, it will be just as accurate as any other airgun it's size, weight and length.

The way I look at it, plan and simply, the Leshiy 2 is a pure hunter 50-75 yards non-slug gun. The Leshiy 2 is NOT a target rifle.

This morning I took the Leshiy 2 out and popped mouseish sized potatoes offhand at 35 - 40 yards, which meets my current needs and expectation for this rifle.

For full disclosure I am shooting my .177 / 350 mm L2 at 16 ft/lbs. I slowed things down for noise reasons because here in NL I am punching paper and evidently potatoes. When I head to USA in January I will crack it up to 18 ft./lbs and hopefully between now and then I receive my pressure tester and jets from Brian, which he sent almost 5 weeks ago.

"pure hunter" great description, and as that is what I want, I would (figuratively) break an arm to get one*

But the question is valid, do a % of them have "accuracy issues?" and if so is this the cause of them being put up for sale, there is little point in any of us shouting down someone for asking such a question, much better we all learn from those who have had hands on.

one issue brought up by this (Nate's) post was yen saying the following.

yen mentioned an "around 30fps" rise for the first shot,(with his gun) if left for a short time.

If one is considering the gun as a "pure hunter" and as that, it is likely there would be short (and long) times between shots, and that any quickly taken (self indexed) follow up shot will be 30fps? less.

Again valid questions could be

Do other owners have the same issue?, do they deal with it with successfully with holdover/under?, would it on reflection have been a deal breaker knowing this happened?.

* current UK law will not allow the gun in FAC.

One thing that I've failed to hear mentioned (besides 2nd and 3rd hand reports of accuracy issues) is whether or not the gun was tuned for the ammo. Out of the box the barrel could need a good cleaning - maybe even a lapping (my .22 LW 250mm and 350mm did, but my .25 and .30 Alpha's did not need anything besides a good cleaning of the protective greases).

What ammo are you using? And what speed? Most stock .25s will be shooting the 25gr .25s around 960-080 fps which is just too fast for them and groupings are scattered. Slow them down to 880 and groups tighten up.

Just like any other airgun you need to tune the gun for the ammo you are using or else it may shoot like poop. I've very good 50 yard groups in the huge Leshiy 2 thread but I'll post it here again if it helps. This is 8 shots in .25 34 gr pellets. 7 within close to 1/2" and one random flier.

I don't have a Leshiy. However, I've bought and sold a few (not many compared to many enthusiasts here) air rifles over the past 5-6 years. I've never sold one because I didn't like the accuracy.

I was on the round 2 list because I liked the simplicity, shortness, and semiautomatic feature. I cancelled my order because I'm shooting rimfire much more than air rifles these days. I didn't want another $2,000 sunk in an air rifle at this time. If the Leshiy 2 had been marketed with all the add-ons, extensions, etc. I wouldn't have even been on the round 2 list. I'm as backwards as one would expect a 66-year old man to be.

I suspect I would like the Leshiy 2 (without the add-ons) because I would use it only for a 20-50 yard squirrel getter. It would be much more portable than my Steyr Hunter Scout Auto.

Here is a 5 shot group , not 8, I got today with the 30 cal 450mm barrel at 40 yards. This was the first time I tried the FX Hybrid slugs. The slugs are a loose fit in the cylinder magazines so if you want to use loose fitting slugs it’s best you leave the magazine in the gun and remove just the backer plate to load. Be also aware that when you tilt the gun muzzle down, the slug aligned with the bore will slide into the bore. This doesn’t create any problem unless you don’t look to see if there is a slug in the bore and load another slug on top of it. That is what happened to me and I marked the first shot on the target I took sighting in a new scope which was two slugs in one shot. It is easy to see the base of the slug in the bore through the magazine. At the same tune I get 910 FPS with the JSB 45 grn pellets but the Hybrids seem to shoot a little tighter groups but this is the first magazine of the Hybrids and the faster I push the pellets the better they shoot. I’m at 160 bar with one .20 nozzle. For what it’s worth I also shot my new FX Maverick 30 compact today for the first time that came out of the box with 150 bar reg setting and with max hammer spring setting I get 850 FPS with the Hybrids and the Leshiy shot a tighter group today. I will be getting the power kit for the Maverick which should up the velocity past the Leshiy and I need to try other slugs in both guns but I thought it interesting how close these two different guns are performing for me. now I expect it will be different another day.

Good to hear you're still enjoying your Steyr auto bowwild. I ended up selling mine, because I just longed for a SA that has a little more than a 5 shot mag. They are wonderful rifles though.

I'm on the Leshiy preorder list, and like you, I'm not interested in any of the add-ons. I want it for what it is. Although I did go for the longer 350mm barrel in .22. I wanted it to be a little longer than my Leshiy classic, also in .22.

I’m so glad I found this thread. I was so frustrated with mine! Going to try polishing the barrel and see what happens. Mine shoots great out to like 40 yard with JSB hades. This is my first air gun, and getting sun MOA accuracy at 50 yards is a struggle for me. I shoot a 250mm .177

I've had my Leshiy 2 for near 3 years now. I pretty much only use it for hunting in the 10-30 yard range. The only problems I've had with the gun have been bone-headed user error, like failing to mount the barrel properly, or failing to put the backing plate on the magazine, failing to insert the magazine, and failing to notice I was running out of air. The last one will probably get everyone that gets a little trigger happy.

I've got a L2 repr 350mm in .30 and its quite accurate to 100 yards with the correct slugs or pellets (size matters here )-yes I felt it was alittle over priced but I also have a Impact m3 .35 that I've got better then $4000 in the gun and optional power/accuracy upgrades and i hadn't got too extreme yet .
The point being there are cheaper alternatives out there that will still shoot good but if you want some of the best(that is winning competitions) then it will cost you and the sky's the limit on anything now days when a gallon of gas should still be a buck or less and eggs were $1.00 dozen. Don't hate the player hate the game !

I’m still struggling with accuracy past 40 yards. It stacks pellets up close but my 50 yard group is like 1.5” which is infuriating! Also loads of flyers. I’m new to airguns and that is probably a large part of the issue. Any advice is always welcome.
