Tuning Edgun leshiy classic huma 12 foot pounds

By the way, I turned my reg down to 75 bar & put in the longer 22 barrel.

Now getting around 13-14 FPE. Puts my PBR at about 10-28 yards which is great for my rabbit problem. Wouldn't mind it a bit closer so maybe I'll try 25 as well.

I stood outside & had my son take a shot into the ravine from inside our house since this will be used a lot through open windows.

He ended up clipping a branch in the ravine & stirred up a small herd of mule deer so we stopped that experiment. But the distant impact was louder than the shot. Will try again on a calmer day.

I do like the longer barrel for poking it through a slightly open casement window but honestly from a noise standpoint it really isn't needed.

As somebody else said if you think your rifle is loud have somebody else shoot it & stand a distance away. Wise words.

Oh ok I'll probably just fill to 240 .

Also when I adjust the huma to lower it do I have to keep going clockwise or can I go counter clockwise.

Or it doesn't matter?

Never turn the regulator adjustment past the lowest or highest setting. So clockwise to decrease. Counter-clockwise to increase.

Also, when turning the regulator up you always go 10 bar past your desired setting and then turn it back down. See photo.

Of course I'm not sure what happens if you want to go to the highest setting. I haven't had to do that yet.

I was hoping that the sub-12 install would cure my slow leak but no luck. So before I removed the paracord to start locating the leak I wanted to run a quick test to see what sort of power changes one could get with just caliber changes.

I only used the 250mm barrels in each of the three calibers and did not adjust HST after caliber swaps.

I used Polymag 8.0 grain for .177, JSB 18.13 for .22 and JSB 25.39 for .25.

First up was the sub-12 Leshiy I was working on yesterday. Full sub-12 kit with plenum spacer installed.

.177 at 700 FPS or 8.71 FPE

.22 at 550 FPS or 12.18 FPE - 40% increase in power from 177

.25 at 500 FPS or 14.1 FPE - 16% increase in power from .22, 62% increase in power from 177.

Next I used my other Leshiy which is set up for moderate power. Regular Huma regulator and plenum. Don't recall the reg setting.

.177 at 909 FPS or 14.68 FPE

.22 at 719 FPS or 20.82 FPE - 42% increase in power from 177.

.25 at 650 FPS or 23.83 FPE - 14% increase in power from .22, 62% increase in power from 177.

I also did this with one of these Leshiys when it came to me set up at what I would consider high power.

I must have texted myself the results and then accidentally deleted them.

In that case I also used the longer 25 barrel and all I can remember is that I got 19 FPE at 177/250 and around 41 FPE at 25/350.

So more than a 100% increase in power from 177/250 to 25/350.

I may have used a lighter wadcutter for that test. [EDIT] Actually think I started light & couldn't get a reading so I kept moving up until I got a reading.

Either way, it looks like the results are close regardless of plenum size. I'd be curious to see if you get similar results.

I would have liked to have seen how many clicks I was away from being tuned to 97% of the first peak in each caliber but I just didn't have time.

And for one more piece of data so at least I have it all in one spot, I also switched between 22 and 25 barrels, each at 250mm in a previous test. But this time I kept the pellet weight the same at 25.39.

22 at 575 FPS or 18.64 FPE

25 at 633 FPS or 22.6 FPE - 21% increase in power when going from 22/250 to 25/350 but keeping pellet weight the same.
