hello guys. i am thinking of getting a matador R5M second hand fully furnished in .177 but perfect condition. but i have mixed opinions from friends that worked on them in the past and spare parts are impossible to find . please i want your lights are they reliable ,should i go for it? or should i get a wildcat BT and spend 500 euros on top for accessories

@trompis I’ve had a second hand Lelya 2.0 for over a year. It came with spare parts and I haven’t taken it apart to do much. I’ve removed the stock to swap stocks, adjust the hammer spring, and I added some lube to certain parts. I’ve been hunting in slightly freezing weather on multiple occasions and in hot weather. I haven’t had a major issue requiring repair work yet. BUT when buying a gun I think it is important to have access to parts and support. EdGunWest in the US (California) is a source for parts.I haven’t looked at their site for parts in quite some time. I think I t’s good to keep extra o-rings and cocking lever springs on-hand. I don’t know how difficult it is for you to order parts from abroad. The R5M platform seems pretty solid in my experience. It has held up well.

I have an R5M in .25 and a few issues with o-rings and an odd issue with the stopper pins for the cocking handles bending, mine was fine. I've heard the .25 has more issues with mag cycling but I haven't had problems. I'd reach out to Brian at Edgun West and get a couple extra valves maybe cocking handle springs like another suggested and you should be good. Taking apart and servicing is easy and Brian has videos on doing it.

Wow...........

My first air rifle was a Lelya 2, the little brother to the slightly longer Matador. It's been a bit over two years now.
I've had ZERO problems with it.

1 - NO air leaks.
2 - Yes the trigger is not Olympic quality, but there's MUCH worse on the market.
3 - Accuracy...I shoot off-hand, so no, I haven't shot any dime sized groups at 100 yards with it, BUT it will shoot a five round group into a 5/8" dia. dot on a piece of paper at 20 yards, in my 73 year old hands. So YES, it (the Lelya / Matador) WILL shoot very well
Check out some YouTube videos !
4 - Very comfortable at the shoulder.
5 - Yes, the cocking action is not one of it better claims to fame ! BUT...it's also not the gloom and doom as noted above either ! One of those things that you get used to pretty easily if you let yourself.
6 - The OEM magazines are plastic. But by design, they are very simple discs, no springs, no adjusting required.

I was actually looking at the same gun that you are looking at, but I like to stay with the .22 cal., which I think there is one of those too.

Again, go into YouTube and watch some videos. They will dispel some of the ugly noted above.

thank you for your honest comment sir and for the time you spared for answering my question . i am pretty familiar with the capabilities of the riffle. my big concern is with parts availability, i already tested the gun and i liked it. problem is parts are nowhere to be found in europe and i plan to use it a lot. and we all know what comes with heavy usage. i can only own .177 with unlimited power in the country i live . riffles i owned( fx impact mk1, mk2 and mk2 power plenum .BRK sniper xr, fx dreamline,AA s510,daystate air ranger)
