Hi,
I practically have no experience with air rifles and I have no experience with PCP. I used to shoot rabbits with one of those gamo single shot break open gun but that's about it. Most of my shooting experience is with shotguns and rifles. I may be moving to Japan pretty soon and PCPs are 3 times more expensive in Japan so I would like to get it in the U.S. I am most interested in an Edgun Matador R3M but somewhere on the internet I read that R4 is coming out???
so
Purpose of getting a PCP
1) It take a little less time to get PCP license in Japan than a firearm (I'm a shotgunner and shoot over 12k round/year so I'll eventually get my shotgun over to Japan but it will take quite some time so something to fill the gap)
2) I want to shoot crow/ravens, pigeons, ducks, pheasants with a PCP
3) I'm guessing PCPs are more quiet than a shotgun so that's nice.
Why I want a Matador?
1) It looks cool
2) I saw it on Ted's Holdover
3) I like Russian designs
4) PCPs are pretty much treated like a firearm in Japan and it's a pain in the ass to get a license (3+ month to get approved) and each PCP/firearm needs to be approved by the police so I don't want to get an entry level gun and be stuck with it. I'd rather be stuck with a top of the line PCP and blame myself for not practicing enough.
Questions I have.
1) What if it breaks? Is it easy to fix? (I don't think many people know to work on this in Japan) Can I just get poop load of replacement parts to Japan and fix it myself when things break?
2) Is R4 coming out soon? Will multishot version of .30 cal be available?
3) Compared to an over and under shotgun, how much effort doest it take to maintain a matador functional?
4) Can you get a bigger shroud to make a matador even more quiet?
5) Where can I get a .25 cal Matador R3M Long (590mm barrel)? Talon Air's website did not specify the length of the barrel.
I will be very grateful if you could provide me some suggestions.
Thank you in advance!
