Edgun r3 25 cal slug barrel?

What is the differences between 600mm vs 700mm slugs un choked slug barrels? Do they have same accuracy and do the 700mm barrel only give more speed?



I have edgun r3 25 cal factory lw choked barrel I have try nielsen 34,7 and 36 grains slugs 260m/s without huma regulator and I get no accuracy with them!



I ordered huma to get more speed and more shot per fill but if I order 700mm slugs barrel I have to made custom shroud extension and I dont wanna do it if the 600mm slug barrel is as good as 700mm.

I think I wait and try hn, jsb slugs 25 cal when they arrive before buy New un choked barrel! What 25 cal slugs airgun Nation crew recommended to try r3 25 cal edgun?

I have use mk2 34 grains jsb long time and they are very accurate but now I want to move only testing differend kind of slugs!

My frend have edgun leshiy 350mm barrel 22 cal and he get great results New hn slugs!

Hi I found their barrels last week and I did order one for taipan , I did see the edgun barrels , They are not Genuine barrels from edgun or taipan , I know they say they sell CZ and LW but I am not sure what LOOP means in USA I found nothing on LOOP Barrel so I am unsure , I did ask about the 25 caliber though , they told me it was not in stock and they can substitute it for the POLY LW from Germany ,I will update when mine comes , I am hoping it is not a cheap ukraine barrel LOU

If it were a match grade it would be nice having that barrel as it is 28 inches , if using on an edgun you will have to modify tubes so barrel can be tensioned or cut to length



Hey Finnish I own every edgun made and Mine shoot slugs fine , Maybe sizing is wrong for your barrel push a few threw and see how they cut into slug , you should have little drag till you hit choke then 10 pounds pressure , this is about .001 thousandth larger this is what you want , too much drag it will slow down and deform , too loose it wont spin , also I want to add on my edguns , many shot pellets well but to shoot slugs accurately , I had to recrown some of the edgun barrels and polish inside 

hope this helps , and if you going to size your own make a cast of choke or push threw 5 pellets and measure if they measure .249 , you want a slug ..2494 to 250 , and it it measured say .248 you want to try 2495 let me know if you understand LOU

Yes i understand! We have polished factory 25 cal barrel with 3 different lapping diamond pastes and i cannot say if it helps accuracy or not! I havent measure and i dont have equipments to measure the slugs after pushing trough the barrel! What different speeds and slugs weights you get best grouping/results? Have you try all the 25 cal nielsens and have you try other slug manufacturers 25 cal?

mk2 jsb 25 cal mine shoots best 270m/s i have try 280-290m/s but my edgun most accurate speed is 270m/s with normal jsb mk2! mk1 are good but you have to use little force to put them in to the magazine!

I put pictures groupings 50-300m when i recieve huma regulator and have set up right speed and sizing slugs and of course calm day! And yes i am eager wait results what you get that new barrel!

My frend have edgun leshiy 350mm barrel with huma and he shots amazing results with hn .217 size slugs in 25 grains speeds over 300 m/s! He is gointo order 550mm 22 cal barrel to leshiy and extra airtube i believe that result are much more amazing with that but cannot be sure!

OK my first suggestion is gun must group accurately with pellets does it ? that gun should group about 1/2 inch at 50 yards does it ? then if it does to run slugs with it you need to be sure they the proper size and also if it is a stock barrel then you may be able to shoot 26 to 40 g

also you stated you have shot it 50 to 300m ? You are grouping what size with what ?//

I am a hunter so I like heavy slugs and not real hollow ones If I do use hollow point I like a small cavity , In 25 cal I like MP 48 gr , Nsa has alot of different weights as well , Or you can cast your own and size to your gun , which is what I do .

But with barrel polishing , it helps alot if done properly meaning on a lathe with paper or compound , however if you use a cleaning rod you need to make a bushing to rod does not hit lands in barrel or breech or crown , Also you want a sharp crown , for slugs I cut my crowns to 11 degrees , some use other angles , I like 11 best for my slug guns , and after cutting it , you can polish it with steel wool or compound after cutting , then a good cleaning ,

OK as far as a magic slug , I would say in ,22 caliber I have a few guns that can shoot 23 to 44 gr like a lazer , and I have had some guns which only liked 1 slug , out of a down weights and types ,



anyone who casts and swags ammo has gotten many molds or dies which didn't work , so you need to shoot them and record your data to get best one for your plunking hunting or competition ,



here is some I bought to test , and I also had 4 types I had made as well .

but my advise is start with an accurate pellet gun then raise power to your slugs , most slugs like 800 to 1050fps , so if it is tuned for pellets then buy some light ones from ebay , nsa .griffin , maybe hn will release theirs ,and or buy a mold from MP and a few sizers .250 249 and 248 from now and he sells molds as well , and have fun LOU

With mk2 jsb its make with calm day 100m 5-10 shot groups about 20-45mm its is very accurate!! I can go shoot and take video shooting if you dont believe! But it have to be max 1m/s wind! I aint say that i shoot 300m! My frend shot with edgun leshiy with slugs those results at 100m, 200m and 300m! And cast slugs its like science and what i understand you never get accuracy cast slugs vs pressure/swaged put slugs like hn? You cast your own slugs and get good accuracy with them? What a **** i know you maybe get some good slugs but never heard those will be accurate like swaged and 25 cal (20-45mm) 100m? What mold do you use with cast slugs can you reveal mold? I know some people who have been cast their own slugs different calibers and never get super accuracy?

Very much thank you for the answers! When i get huma regulator and can get enough speed heavier slugs what molds do prefer mp molds 25 cal? I can loan all cast equipments with laser thermometer! What mp molds you recommend and what size? My edgun magazine is about 11.5mm long? Have to fit those diameters! Yes i can have one load tray edgun when you can put longer slugs, How long are those mp molds slugs lenght?

What is the science in that 22 cal is more accurate than 25cal i dont understand or is it only because the 22 cal is more common caliber? yes i know 257 cal is one of the best long range shooting cal! But i wanna try/find out 25 cal good slugs and that why i ask! I have cast equipment in hand and do you use pure lead or some kind of mix lead and tin or what? Yes i understand that you have to yourself go to this all work, but if you can give some good help with this casting and right mold i thank you very much!

And with slugs my today setup with 150bar can shoot only 36 grains nielsen only 265m/s and i dont get any accuracy with that speeds! But i think it dont get better with huma regulator and more speed their is more wrong with all the setup! Like you said first power up speed and then caliberate slugs right size and then order new unchoked slugs barrel!

I havent seen enywhere on the forum that anyone have most best/accurate powder barrel manufactures barrels and try them or if they even make customs barrels on airguns in bartlein, proof research and krieger and others? Do they make custom barrels for pcp airguns?

I have been shooting a morana with a unchoked poly lw bbl. I fitted from a blank and it is very very good. I am shooting a slightly larger plenum and lower reg. Pressure wit a weighted hammer. 48 nsa@ 940 ish is doing about 1.2-1.3" consistently...the 37gr about 1,1@960...

Honestly any weight is good if the speed is ok. I have an old Lyman 25 acp mold that drops a 53 gr roundnose that does 1.5-1.6 sized correctly.
