Edgun R5m .25 hard cocking issue

When I
@lbc_PSI Depends upon the application. This gun was designed for hunting to my understanding. Too long in my opinion. The regular ambidextrous cocking handles are good enough for me.
When I had a Lelya2.0, I found it nearly impossible to quietly close and lock the cocking handle. I would pull the trigger and the handle would go SPROING..and bounce to the open position. In a hunting situation this was just game spooking.

Oh, I could slam the handle forward and it would lock, but that didn't work for me. I don't walk around with a loaded PCP, so operating the cocking handle when game was in sight and close was just unacceptably loud. Just me. It might work for others..but that's one of the reasons I sold mine.

@lbc_PSI Understandable. All don't seem to operate the same. The longer cocking handle can easily get caught on vines where I hunt.

I find chambering pellets okay but when I tried any slugs it was excess force needed to close the bolt. The gun wasn't designed for shooting slugs and doesn't have enough Leverage to push the projectile forward into the rifling. If the barrel had more free float space before the rifling it would make chambering slugs easier but then again it would be worse for pellets. I agree the loud cycling would scare game.

@BlackICE Good point. I read something about someone suggesting throating the breech to accommodate slugs. Any air gun that I have that has been throated was done by the distributor or previous owner.

Hi , maybe the gun is not design to shoot slugs it terms of side cocking arms and magazine ,yet it has a LW barrel with no choke , currently i'm using it for slugs 21 grains HN 0.218 with no resestant what so ever after replacing the arms with a side lever, the speed is 950 fps and its accurate as laiser ( 1 inch at 100 Yards).
