Will a recent R5M bought from Edgun West come with the metal mags or plastic mags, thanks in advance.

EDGun R5M cocking/indexing?

I believe you get the plastic ones still. Mine came with 2 and I bought 2 extras at the same time. They are all plastic with no mention of the metal option. Aoa or Utah may be persuaded to get some as they carry edguns now and also other eaglevision products. I got mine from England as it looked like my fastest option.

Please give us an update on the Eaglevision mags once you've tried them. The plastic mags are my least favorite thing on EDguns. FYI, if you ever get a brain fart and try to put one in backward, they will break, not that I've ever done that of course.

Guess I'll renew this with a .25 Leyla 2. Nothing to add except more of the same. Mine bought new. NEVER did index properly. Worked great for awhile and then the problem. Tried various magazines. No difference. I too got the 'not interested in the problem" attitude' from EDW. Because I tried to fix the problem from a recommended person from EGW it's now been 'messed with' so no warranty. Also it seems some distributors don't take into condideration about $50 shipping each way. When I spend that much money on a gun I expect it to work. I too know how to cock a gun. And. if Ed produces a lemon now and then somebody ought to take care of it.

My r5m 22 standard was performing perfectly then I started having the indexing problem. The gun was shooting slugs very well and when the indexing problem started it seemed to deformed the slugs as they entered the chamber and now the only thing that it seems to shoot well is the pellets. I guess I’m lucky that the pellets are doing alright but I noticed that the action feels different like it’s just a little off . I don’t have any idea how to correct the problem.

I've had better luck with the Eaglevision magazines. They don't click into the detent as nicely as the Edgun plastic ones but feel smoother indexing and cocking.

To retain slugs and keep them from backing out (a potential contributor to indexing issues with pellets or slugs) one might consider using a single ORing. A #13 (7/8”X11/16”X3/32cs) works fine. If fully seated in the mag they do not move. When pellets are fully seated with the skirt clearly within the magazine they typically do not move. This O-Ring May deform thin skirted pellets in .22 or .177 so test, test, test. This idea was posted by an AGN forum member some time ago. It works

When the magazine pellet retention o-rings get dry and brittle, they contribute to roughening of feel when chambering a pellet. I replace them when they show signs of cracking or dry-rot.

I’m guessing I wasn’t imagining the issue on both R5Ms that I’ve owned. I went through the same responses as you Jim, My favorite was that I needed to “learn” to cock the gun. That made me chuckle with its absurdity. The disappointing part is there is no way to adjust the indexing so it does work correctly. I have a feeling it’s a more common issue than most let on...
guess I’m lucky mine still works. 
With the 2 I've owned I never had an issue but both were .22. have a .177 coming so will see how it goes. I think I saw somewhere someone was having an issue with the indexing and ended up being the tension on the barrel was too tight and flexing the frame/housing of the barrel? Who knows why.

How did they relieve the pressure ? Brian is no help, I would think someone’s had to bring this to his attention ?

By the tension nut on the front of the barrel. I think there supposed to be somewhere in the 12-14 ft/lb range. I'm thinking maybe it was likkitysplyt?

Dairyboy is that Foot lbs or inch lbs? I know that most scope folks talk about 14 inch lbs for rings and 30-40 inch lbs for other things.
Mine is a .25. Until I learned how to 'load' a magazine (HA!) indexing ruined my experience with the Leyla for a long time. I agree. Brian is no help. If he had just said somewhere to make sure the pellets are all the way in and see if that doesn't cure the problem...it would have really helped. Maybe that isn't the cure for others but it was for me. So simple I bet it's overlooked sometimes.
The dude above (a friend) talking about replacing the O rings on the mag knows about what he speaks. He helped me with my Leyla and during the course of attempts to trouble shoot I can comfortably say he probably knows more about the mechanics and the WHY than does Brian or maybe even Ed himself. Trouble shoot a PCP over the phone?? He did!!

Foot pounds as inch pounds is very little. Glad though that the mag loading was your issue. I've always tapped my mags on something to seat them so maybe thats why I never had an issue

For my R5M Brian told me from 10-15 FtLbs. After much experimenting I found that 20 FtLbs Was the sweet spot for mine, but yours could be different.

Ran 4 more magazines through today and not a glitch. When I load the magzine, some of the pellets do not seat themselves below the hole level. I also now rap pretty hard on a solid surface to move them all down. A medium rap does not get them all. I have had to sometimes push with a tool to get them seated. Experimenting, I gave them a really hard rap and they all went down, however some went so far down I could see the pellet head really close to the exit point of the magazine. Learned if I then turn the magazine upside down and give it a gentle rap they all seat evenly and uniformally.
I would be curious to know if the others who have experienced indexing problems determined that the problem was really pellet depth when loading, something else, or gave up on it??

Same. Although my .25 will not shoot heavies -regular or mk II's for Sh^t without the violent "blowback" of air in my face mentioned previously. I have plastic and metal mags-same thing with the heavies--makes me mad cause I'm hearing good things about them but the air in the face is too much!!

Have you replaced the breech seal? I also know both @davidsng and @zx10wall put something behind the breech seal like a thin plastic washer to fix this.
