Tuning el gamo / rebuild

I have my late grandfathers el gamo 177/ break barrel air rifle. Model Number: Mod: EXPO( I think) serial number 482114

I glued the split wooden fore end of the stock and used scotch brite to clean up barrel and housing.

I would like for someone to check / repare / replace the seals and maybe do a reblue the metal and get it back shooting again.

The gun has no real value I don't think anyway.. Anyone you would recommend someone that wouldn't be too expensive to do this work?

I'm interested in this as well. My father gave me his old stevens single shot .22 rifle. He found it when he was 12 in the woods. He's 90 now. Gave it to my gunsmith. He turned it back into a working gun again to the tune of $180. To anybody else the gun wouldn't be worth anything. But to me, because it was my dads, priceless. So I understand the sentimental value completely.

Its funny that I came across your post. I also have an el gamo EXPO serial number 498328. The wood is in decent shape and somebody glued on a rubber padded cheek piece at some point and it is missing the rear sight. I was thinking of using it as a first attempt at tuning a springer. I have to do some research and also buy a spring compressor. I'm not even sure if parts are available. I'll be following this post and hoping to see your progress.

I called gamo and the girl I talked with said " they no longer have parts for that model."

She said call a "gunsmith."

I wonder if the seals are o-ring or cup seals or both?

I also asked about the serial number and she said "I have no idea."

I have a Gamo EXPO serial # 102834 any idea what year it may have been built?

I have a sight issue. The rifle shots 1 1/2" to 2" low at 5 yards.

and the spring elevates the slotted sight, the rifle continues to shoot low. The groups are fiarly good , about 3/8" diameter but I can't seem to change the point of impact. Any ideas??

It looks a lot, almost exactly, like my newly purchased Daisy model 120. Mine would not shoot a pellet out of the barrel without recocking it and firing it a second time until I cleaned and oiled it.

My Daisy 120 appears to have the same sight issue.
