Electrochemical Rifling barrel, maybe we are on the right track.

I was a CNC programmer for almost fifteen years including in EDM company early 20Ks. I programmed over a dozen CNC EDMs also built electrodes from a variety of materials.
I cannot see an average vallet can pay for a 20+ inches barrel made with this process.

Chem milling has been around for a long time. If you were to paint the ID of a barrel with the chemical resistant coating in the twist pattern you desired, you could just put the barrel in the tank for a set amount of time and be done.

I see they are called ERC 30 and the E-Rifling type of grooves and as an upgrade they are $150 cheaper than LW barrels...

It is my understanding that S&W went ECM on their revolver barrels quite a long time ago. The general response was that cast boolit shooting took a hit. I do not know if that was due to ECM but can absolutely say my older revolvers do better with cast than my newer guns.
I've done the cast boolit thang for a very long time and suspect that there may have been some other changes at the same time. I'm not a practicing metallurgist but do have a BSc and would most definitely expect that they changed alloys of their barrels to optimize the ECM process. OR, maybe they are too smooth?
