Never experienced this before ... the accuracy of a quality PCP air rifle. In the dark and tagging targets in the backyard within about 54 yards. Lot of air rifles out there, glad I started with a Taipan.

You definitely started out on the right foot, my friend! The Taipan compact is a work of art.

If I could give you one suggestion for your new pup it would be grip tape. Feels awesome and peels off clean (y)

Starting out with the best, Now where you going to go.
Wanted the Vet Standard .22, but overall ... AN members (owning several) have been telling me to keep what I have. Short story, I can only have one per agreement as my wife witnessed the air rifle addiction results from 2 years plus going through springers. So I would have to sell the compact to try out the standard. Original paired down PCP list was the HW100 - carbine, AAS510/AAS500 - carbine, and just stumbled on the Taipan via the AN classifieds which struck up curiosity with the simple design/bullpup. I had several bullpups over the decades with firearms. UtahAirguns reviewed my inquiry list and pushed the simplicity and durability of the Taipan which tipped me to go with the Taipan. UT only had the .25 vets left at the time, I wanted a .22. AN had one in the classfieds and I pulled the trigger. AN members etc have been a great community. No plans to make any custom mods, it just works great as is. Where to go now is getting proficient with the setup pictured.

I have not done any tuning or chrono #'s, yet. Just went with as-is from the prior user. For pellets, I get what is cheap or readily available. Crosman HP .22 cal, 5.5 mm, 14.3 gr. Picked up 20 tins here on AN classifieds but likely lost a couple of hundred from shipping damage (deformed skirts etc). Those pellets work just fine for what I do in the backyard. Eventually I'll try out that chrono thing in the big black box! Recently had several storm systems move through SD so been here on AN and eBaying most of the weekend.

Strelok. Got banned by the Biden administration but can still be found floating around.
Really enjoyed the Strelok app with my powder pushers and like you said..one day it was a No-Go when I tried put it on my new phone. The info it gave was priceless in the field for those stretched out shots but I tend to enjoy tech. Looking forward to the element 1500 / Arken glass with new Tiapan or the Thermnight data when used. Hoping to tune it in to lower the SD.
