Epic Epic Airguns Two arrived

Okay so i shot the Two a little yesterday but only 50 M and in winds i would not ever consider shooting in, 15 MPH average winds and 30 -31 MPH gusts,,,, and lots of gusts, low pressures doing battle in this here part of the world.

Anyway all things considered, it is very easy to see what groups i just fired off as quick as i can, and what groups where i minded the wind.
And by minding the wind i mean judge by the creaks and moans the old shot shed have when it is hit by wind, i do not have a single wind flag at the range.

So it would seem i can airgun again,,,,,, my problem just is i have no idea why that is so, or what happened to make my Two a scatter gun in the previous 2 outings,,,,,, and that is annoying as hell.

Day 3 groups.jpg

My L/R of the scope was dialed for not much wind, and as it was R to L i would assume a L bias, and i also see that.
Also see a little down, and i am shooting up hill a little, so if a projectile are pushed down on windy days i would not be surprised,

So ! Back in business and now eagerly looking for a day with mode moderate winds, and the 10 MPH average i saw yesterday, well that is the gust speed on the days where i really expect something from my shooting.

5 - 15 MPH winds i can deal with, or live with CUZ TBT i dont really do much wind compensation, but i can click my scope to where it is in a " best of both worlds " setting that just let me aim directly at target.

Just a FYI.
The weather for both the coming Saturday and Sunday look very promising at the moment

Hope to really get to see what a Two can do, also stretch it out to 86 M CUZ " fiddy" even if in EURO measurements is so,,,, :cautious: well everyone do that.

Also need to remember to snap a pic or two of the shot shed project, with all the posts in the ground you can get a feeling where things are heading.
Also Sunday, we might have to do a run to the lumber yard to pick up some siding / roofing

Still have some issues with finding free paving stones for the floor inside the shed, the free stuff are either too few stones or way too far away even for this little country.
We might have to start out with a softer " floor "

O it will be fine, Epic very forthcoming and helpful, seller also but i am talking to Epic as they are the ones with most experience, though they have also admitted that the pea caliber .177 / 4.5 mm is not what have been highest on the agenda.
This is also the feeling i get with any other brand i have tried, .177 seem to be a after thought most often.

Come Sunday evening i will have things worked out, and we will figure out a path forward from there.

There have been some REG issues ASO mentioned by others, mine seem to be fine in that regard, but i will say adjusting pressure up, and especially past 100 BAR, and the regulator are damn hard to turn, so you will need leverage better than the factory ring and better than my DIY knob.
As it is now i use my little Phillips head screwdriver as it is a perfect match to the hole in the REG adjuster tool.

Yep 30 MPH wind you will see, and some of my groups on last outing also show that, but be a little mindful and wait until the wind was just half of that, and things immediately looked better.

Sat and Sunday look to be excellent weather in regard to the wind, if the Two is working i should have very little problems holding my 13 gr slugs on a 2" target at 86 Meters distance.
And if that is the case, well i will be firing 1000 - 2000 shots in the weekend.

I will also be having some stools ( bar ) for the new shot shed in my car Saturday so i will not be able to also bring my Maverick for direct comparison, but that is fine i know very well what it can do.

With the bar stools we will be able to gauge how high up our benches will be, and so can install the sturdy horizontal brace in the framework that the benches will rest on at the front, so far the plan is to have the benches removable so they can slide sideways as needed, or be completely taken down.

Epic have already offered to send new REG and Valve, but i dont think the issue is there, i can reach fairly flat shot strings with little effort, and if i reach a unfortunate setting that is not a flat shot string, i can change REG pressure and hammer and reach that speed with a flatter shot string, so the principles of the thing seem to be working alright.

They ( epic ) like me also a bit worried about the tight spot in the middle of the barrel, so that might need to be replaced.
They do test all rifles but until now on a very short range, they will soon be testing all rifles at a 60 M indoor range.
And 60 M should hint on any flakiness i would think.

Dunno if this is a legitimate way of documenting.
But i got a weight, and the Two barrel is 1160 grams on its own.
Noe pressing a slug down thru the barrel on the weight, i need to put additional 900 grams or so of pressure to get the slug moving, but that is in the lighter part and with 13 gr slug, in the tight spot i have to 3X the force or so that to keep the slug going, and then on the other side and the rest of the way the pressure are again moderate.

Doing the same with a 20 gr Zan slug, and in the tight spot the pressure needed is over 4 kilos ( not counting the 1.16 KG of the barrel )

Fabbed a video too for you guys to enjoy, laugh at, or what ever mood you are in.

You will have to forgive the flaky readout, with my 3 mm ram rod i am not able to hold it in the end and do a all in one feed.
But you can see that in the middle / somewhere into the barrel there is a tight spot VS start and end numbers.

Yesterday I finally received the new updated Reg and valve, thinking the Reg was the Culprit because the Reg pressure was matching the bottle pressure. installed both of them but the problem was still there and to be honest I felt a bit frustrated.
This afternoon I received also a tutorial were Epic was showing how the Reg was installed ... and everything was fine until I showed to them how was the set up and finally the solution came out: the piece in between the tube and the plenum which I call the Reg holder, was installed upside down:rolleyes: ( the hole you see in the pic must be positioned to your right side for obvious reason but I never noticed something was wrong)
Until now I got unmatched customer service from Epic and David Hanusek.I'm very pleased,
Tomorrow I still have to fix the problem I had with the barrel too close to the tube but tomorrow is another day:cool:

There should be a laser engraving behind the sealing O-ring that said " this side forward " or something like that.
Or as i have suggested the fill port should also be in this piece instead of all the way out front.

My regulator seem to be doing what it is supposed to do, but epic have suggested sending one, and valve housing too, but to me at least and so far these parts seem to be working as they should.

I will have to correct myself once again.

So my regulator is not doing what it is supposed to do, CUZ below 100 BAR it is next to impossible to get a flat shot string, but go to 110 or more and BAM and you have a shot string that is literally flatline.
So <100 BAR and you might get 3-4 shots at the same speed but then ´the speed would fluctuate, hell i even saw one time where the speed just climbed 30 - 35 FPS over 3 shots only to drop way down to where it was.
But the norm trying to shoot modest pressures of 90 - 100 BAR was just a irregular shot string that might be 10 - 15 FPS between fastest and slowest shot, and on the Two as it is now that seem enough to make POI change where as my Maverick feel a bit more forgiving to shot speeds that fluctuate a little

Of course when you have only brought 13 and 12.5gr slugs for your outing, this mean things will fly really fast, and while you can dampen things a bit with less hammer, then you dont get far before the more relaxed hammer make the shot string not flat.

Funny thing though, the Two seem very speed sensitive, so with a not super flat shot string, i would shoot 2 hole groups - 3 if it was a bad one, but at one speed the slugs would land at "A" and then a slightly slower shot would land at "B" so when my chronograph was reading out speeds i was way ahead of it just calling it by where the shots landed.

Another funny thing the 12.5gr NSA slugs did alright at 1081 FPS, though there was some POI chasing CUZ it is for sure not the ideal speed for those, but i did manage to put more holes in 2" targets at 80 M distance VS last time.

Sub 100 BAR shot string standard. ( 90 BAR ) Hard to get just a little more flat than this.
SUB 100 string.jpg

+ 100 BAR shot string standard. ( 120 - 130 BAR )

And this is including the first "hot " shot right after REG pressure change, NIX the 1088 FPS and it would have been a really nice string.
plus 100 shot string.jpg

what jet are u using? maybe a bigger jet would benefit from lower reg pressure...?

Okay so i got a little burned on the case i ordered for the Two, the listed measurements are the very outer most measurements and not the size of the compartment of the case.
So the one i ordered are barely able to do the job, for sure not have the adapter for the moderator installed on the barrel.

But i still made it work, just not as planned, but for transport to / from range it will be fine, but i would not ship my rifle anywhere like this, for that to work i would need at least 50 mm / 2 " foam all around to be able to feel good.

As i have cut so much into the form, well i will have to glue it into the case CUZ it have a tendency to want to follow the rifle out of the case when you take it out of there.

PS. IMO the matte surface on the Two, make it VERY susceptible to scratches, mine already look a bit banged up.
what kind of case is it ..... i mean the brand ?????

The new 0,6 hole valve it’s made for pushing heavy slugs at very low Reg setting but makes the gun extremely loud and air thirsty
It can be loud and thirsty because the valve is still open when the projectile has leaved the barrel. Its basically wasting air and the excessive air behind the projectile is not helping the accuracy to. But yes, you can achieve high power and low reg pressure with that amount of air. But i don't see the point.
For me this would be a good reason to go with a bigger jet and a higher reg pressure. Maybe get a better system harmonic too. Just my thought's..

Some electronic pressure gauges can give you information on Liters of air per shot, if im not mistaken.

gun extremely loud
Well its not whispering at 1081 FPS, and when my FX chrono give up due to excessive speed, i might as well shoot a rimfire in the field.

Liters of air per shot
I hope that is CC of air per shot, i dont even thing the big AEA cannons use liters of air in a single shot.
At least regulated rifles your shot cant be more than in your plenum, at least not without a insanely wrong setting.

PS: More shed work today, it now have a functional roof, that we will get waterproofed in the days to come.
Tomorrow however i have to go to my little sister and do the good big brother thing, CUZ you know,,,, family first.
