Epic Epic Two Barrels

I think after much consideration, I'll buy an Epic Two in .25. Guess I just have a soft spot for Czech made guns after owning a trouble-free Cricket for 11 years. But I'm having trouble deciding on barrels. I plan to shoot slugs and probably try for longer distances.

Anyway....after much reading, I'm thinking the 700 LW Polygonal in .25 for heavier slugs. I've seen videos where guys are shooting the 700 mm barrel for those 200-500 yard shots, (ha, in my dreams), but in .22 and using a CZ barrel

But MAN that's a long gun. I have a Cricket .25 and an Impact MKII .25 for occasional pesting, so length might be fine as I'll use the EPIC primarily for non-competitive bench. and playing with distance.

So questions....is the 700 mm more accurate than the 550? I know that it gives more power/speed
-Any known issues with the LW?
-I'm intrigued by the foldable stock. Not sure I need it and I lean towards fixed things for accuracy but since they went to all the trouble to design it....hmmm....(irrational I know). anyone have an opinion there?

Thanks for any input and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there.

with the folding stock my .177 700 mm Two fit in a 1 M long hard case, and so just fit in the trunk of my almost micro car.
It is heavy guns for sure not what i would call walk and shoot rifles, which is OK for me CUZ i am all bench here.

It is also the tube version i have CUZ tanks put me off, and as i shoot bench and tethered i dont need a big air reservoir.

The silly foster people will whine about the fill probe,,,,, but that is their problem i am totally OK, my only sort of gripe is the fill port is all the way in the front.

I have not tried shorter barrels so i can not tell on accuracy with those, there is a guy on youtube that shoot pests and have shot the Two in different lengths.

I ordered with LW barrel but had to get that replaced CUZ it had a choke in the middle 1/4 of it, got the CZ barrel which is perfect in that regard.
I shoot 2" targets or the .22 red dot on those, anywhere from 100 to 134 yards.

Way more should buy a two rifle, its good stuff, and the issues i had have had the company 100 % behind me.

I just got an Epic One with the 700mm CZ unchocked barrel in .25 and it's shooting 60g Alteros lights out! Hitting the steel at 250 yards is boring! I will try and get it out this weekend and do some grouping at 200 yards. It also does well with the NSA 34.9 slugs, but the Alteros are better in my limited shooting. I have a bunch more slugs to try to see what it and I like the best. I know the barrels are not interchangeable, but David @ Epic told me the barrels are the same between the One and Two. I also have a .177 CZ in 550mm and a .22 LW in 550mm to change them out. I will be adding the LW .30 700mm when it comes out in Janurary.

not good news about the LW barrel.
No i have heard of LW having quality issues, and it seem so when they can send a barrel with a big choke in the middle of it out the door as a un-choked one, it is not something we can blame Epic on.
Well they could slug every barrel to be sure, but it is like a 3-4 guy company so probably hard for them to manage.
I of course also told the seller Wolfeik group, so they know and can take action / test LW barrels before they go out the door.

LW barrel issues i think is also what prompted FX to start making their own barrels back in the day.

LW or CZ barrel, judging by what others have done in larger calibers, i think either one is fine.
I am not entirely sure that even if the LW barrel had been good i would have been able to shoot heavier slugs.

And i still can shoot 20 - 22 and 24 grain .177 slugs, they are pretty accurate out to 55 M, but way out at 134 yards where i prefer to be, well they are key holing though still on or damn near a 2 inch target paper,

I shot this at 134 yards with the 20 grain Zan as i recall, to prove the 3" splatter targets i had gotten which had no splatter, as you can see the wrong shape on the holes, but still not half bad for the distance.

10 - 13 - 16 grain slugs make proper nice holes at the same distance.

Hi could you please.. let us know what is the barrel thickness in the Epic ONE.
I'm really interested in buying a few .
Thank you ..

Here is the .22 LW 550mm barrel. That's a guitar pick keeping the micrometer centered! The .177 is the same size. My positioning of the micrometer may be a touch off as I don't have the steadiest hands anymore...

When I put the micrometer tip on the table and close on the barrel, I get 14.95mm & 0.5885" That's probably closer than my pics above.
Thank you.. so is only a hair under 15mm I'm getting one , i would never purchase another bench gun with a thin barrel. now I only have to decide to sell somethings.. would like to have it in .22 - 25 - 30 .. 😁

@Drumsnguns My Epic One 700mm CZ .25 "unchoked" puts pellets in a dime circumfrance at 100 yards. The only reason it's not better is because the shooter isn't any better! I also have the unchoked 700mm CZ in my Taipan Vet 2 tactical .22 shooting KO .218 33.6g slugs and it is also at a dime at 100 yards. I really can't complain about the CZ unchoked barrels at this point. I'll circle back after I figure out how to change barrels and I get the "factory moderator" for the 2 shorter barrels.

That is why I don't sell my uragan in .177 it shoots between 13.5 to 16.5 gr slugs flawless at 960fps.. unless they start to come with a faster twist in .177 there is no point, because power we have enough to push 20gr + but not twist . Why if a 700mm mm is target for slugs they simply don't start at least with the basic 1-9 twist it works in .172 between from 24 to 26 gr that should be a fun .177

Yes we need a .177 barrel revolution.
Pellets are very fine indeed, but adding the slug flavor and .177 become a whole other beast, and if it could handle 20-22 grain well it would be a monster.
The 24 grain i also have, are beginning to be pretty long slugs, but of course if someone would give it to me, i would snag it up in a heartbeat.

I would then just have to go elsewhere to shoot further than our MAX of 134 yards

Here is the .22 LW 550mm barrel
Yes 15 mm is also what i have on my 700 mm CZ barrel ( measured with analog caliber )

Hi Buddy, I own the Epic2 in .25 cal with a 700 mm Lw barrel. It's shoots like a dream and likes heavy slugs ( I shoot mainly Zan 45 gr at 970/980 fps). It's long and heavy and a 700 mm won't shoot necessarily better than a 550 mm barrel, and a shorter barrel will make the gun less hold sensitive. If you decide to stick with a 550 mm Lw is going to limit you in slugs weight choice but if you are not planning to shoot those heavy ones it will be more than enough to shoot a 37 gr at 980 fps.

The Lw barrel has M15x1,25 thread, really weird pitch!

Thanks, I’m not sure what you mean by the 550 LW limiting me in slug weight? Wouldn’t it be the same with the 700 LW? Or are you saying LW by itself limits one to the heavier weights, whereas CZ is a bit more diverse?
I read where CZ is good up to 34gr and 37 gr and above is better with the LW but YouTube guys are shooting .22, 40 gr slugs out to like 400 yd (Shooter 1720), with CZ and another guy is hitting metal plates consistently at 500 yd with .25, 47gr AVS in a CZ barrel so it’s a bit confusing.

What I mean you can not shoot a 45 gr .25 cal slug from a Lw .550 mm barrel at appropriate velocity while you can do it with a 700 mm due to a longer barrel and less Reg pressure. I do not shoot .22 cal at all so can not compare between the two. So if your plan is to shoot heavy slugs a 550 mm is not appropriate

Ah, thanks for clarifying that!

I’m not going for the heaviest slug, but rather the most accurate. If a 34 gr slug gives me sub MOA at 100- 150y then no need to go any heavier (unless there’s a better heavier one out there).
The heaviest I’ve ever shot is 43.5 and it didn’t do so good out of my Impact. But 37g Zans do very well
Anyway, my goal is bench accuracy with slugs in the Epic Two. I’ll more than likely go 700 mm but I hope I make the best choice with barrel manufacturers.
The input has been much appreciated.
