Is it just me?Or did you also notice some of those slugs were cracked along the hollow point

Was the cracking just on the larger slugs? I seem to remember seeing they weren’t filled out as well but I also noticed the die didn’t extrude lead when he swaged them. I think he just went too long/heavy for the length of wire he had cut. If he cut a longer core, he would have got better fill out. I may have missed something though.

That may be the case, given that the other ammo looks just fine

Damn, This is the exact configuration we are working on for the press of course, (Gen 3), And No- We aint ever making the die set for FX hybrids as they are Patented designs.

So Far the press is awesome, Well executed and looks good too!
Oddly, it is very similar to my homemade press except mine runs on a hydraulic cylinder. The two uprights on mine thread onto two of the cylinder bolts. My top plate is bored a little oversized to allow alignment like the one in the video.

Can't say I ever had separation like that before just from a light core. Not filled out and deformed, yes. Something else must be going on. Almost looks like he put 2 cores together.
I agree, something definitely different. Looks like he put a bunch of random pieces in (maybe extruded pieces) and tried to squish it together. Not that it really matters….it was just supposed to show the operation and what length could be had.

One thing that is concerning, to me anyway, is the leverage seems less than ideal. I think it would benefit from the stroke being shorter (this would give a smaller working window but there seems to be more than enough). It seemed as though he struggled a bit with the swage and the die has two large squirt holes which should help make it easier. Less room to work with more leverage would be my suggestion for improvement.
