Evanix Viper being released in .177, .22, and .25

While the HW44 looks interesting, I went with a 1701P for its more conservative power level (this is a basement paper puncher) and price tag. If I am going to blow more than $500 on a pistol, it'll have to be semi-auto. And that's strange coming from me, as I am uninterested in a semi-auto rifle.

I love my 1701p, but it’s a different tool for a different purpose. I am still working on my justification process for this one.

Loud generally doesn’t work for me. Put a mod on it and lose the size attribute. I still want one, but it will be at least a year of creating imaginary needs. I can do it!

Evanix customer service comes to mind first. I'm not keen on the aesthetics, and frankly I like single shot guns. Mag fed is OK. Unless there's something this gun does better than a number of others (given the ataman and hw, I doubt it) Other than maybe being some-what compact? I'm just not sold at that price point. Maybe $600. And I'd likely still sell it. But either way, I like seeing new pcp pistols on the market. And I hope other mfgs will follow.

I usually don't do pre-orders, but this one got me. Having recently restored a Crosman 600 I've been loving the semi auto pistol thing. So I guess I'm one of the guinea pigs as I put my pre-order in for a .22 with NEA a few days ago. It was only $100 down so it's more of a hold your place in line thing. I did this based on the Evanix videos outside blasting some targets attached to a pallet.

I do like what I say with the air tube space around the barrel being used for extra air. Although the pistol does seem loud in the video. I was originally thinking it was a shroud. Can't tell if the muzzle end is a cap to reveal a moderator thread, but I would assume Nate would mention in the video if it was. Hopefully there will be some options for moderation.

While a Huben pistol still intrigues me, there has been nothing shown yet other than Gregor's custom to prove this will be a reality.

At 14” it’s not as compact as I would like, but then I am not sure there will be anything smaller.

I don’t think we should compare it to the single shots we know and love today as this is a different animal. The point of it is semi auto.
To get that you have to accept weaker attributes in other areas.

By the time I can spend another $1,000, I could fill other more pressing needs, such as optics.

But I do really like this one.

Interesting...but.

1 - Don't mind the barrel being so large in diameter, as long as the suppressor actually works. (I have to go to another computer to listen to the video!)
2 - WHY...is the trigger guard thicker than a .50 machine gun guard ?
3 - And last (for now), it's a shame that the grip panels are (look) proprietary, rather than copying something like the Government .45,or Beretta 92, panels. This way the owner has a multitude of grip panels to choose from, rather than one, or having to have custom grips made.

I like the compactness, but I'm waiting to see how it compares to the Huben PCP Pistol before making any commitment one way or the other This is becoming an interesting PCP segment!
What have you heard of the Huben pistol ? that is the one I'm waiting for
But I like the looks of the Viper, I hear the production model will have open sights ( big plus ) and more power.

If the .25 comes at 25+ FPE I really might think about it even at the steeeeeeep price point.

Good morning,

I sure do get confused when a company "sells" a gun that is not in production and in this case the engineering is not even completed o_O

With a retail price near $1000.00 , you must be kidding me.

I'm thinking about getting a blitz instead; the same price, but I feel like I know what I m getting. Buying this Viper would be like buying a Mystery box.

You would think since it's small, it would be cheaper. But Evanix has become a more exclusive brand name lately, at least in terms of price. In terms of performance I've heard of some of their newer guns jamming a lot. They sure do go for a lot of money though.

I said screw it and picked up an AEA Defender 2.0 with 357 and 457 barrels. Bin gave me a nice deal. I'm pretty sure most of the "kinks" were user error that people have since figured out how to make it reliable. I'll take 2 shots at 55+ fpe in a derringer format over a magazine of bee stings. I'm actually waiting on it to arrive in the mail today, so I can't comment on it much more just yet.

I just need a protection piece to carry into the woods hiking with my kids and situations like that. The gov stole my rights a long time ago and I'm not a felon or any kind of violent crime either. Just one of those things that I have to deal with until the Alphabet org is abolished. I comply with all laws, statutes and regulations-by-redefinition, even unConstitutional ones.

Edit: Mail came. It certainly goes boom and flattened out those 457 slugs against some steel (not entirely, but it completely flattened the nose). Pretty easy to load and fill. Tiny high pressure cartridges with a burst disc make me a little nervous so she's sitting loaded up on the shelf tonight. Gradually I'll learn to trust this thing enough to carry it around. A little tricky to aim and shoot with the extra stiff trigger. Good safety feature but needs getting used to. The built-in laser had me on target easily enough though.
