Evanix Evanix Viper X -Besides Reviewers, Who’s Shooting One?

Have any AGN members that don’t do YouTube reviews gotten a hold of an Evanix Viper X yet? How’s your experience been with it?

Semi-auto in .177, .22, and .25 and smaller than the original Evanix Viper. Not much else by way of printed specs or performance on the NEAG site.

Ooooh, oooh, me, me I am!

in .25

I've only had it a week or so, but it's been very positive. I know it's all Huben this, GK1 that on this forum, but from what I've read everyone should have both.

Bought from Patriot Air Guns and they're very responsive. One of the magazine reatainer springs failed and they sent me a new magazine immediately w a return envelope for the 'broken' one.

@Sleestak I understand that Evanix is big on GTA likely due to their sponsorship there. We don’t read much about them here. Have you chronographed any shot strings from your Viper X?

Not yet.

I've just been shooting it for pleasure. Nothing sciency yet.

As all things Evanix, it's nicely made and feels good in the hand. I got it mostly for it's smaller / more realistic handgun size and am not obsessed w power or long distance shooting w it.

The magazines....other than burning thru ammo work great. My understanding is that the GK1 does not allow for the removal of the magazine. If this correct then the added safety of the VX is a huge plus.

I immediately went out and bought the double mag since the joy of popping caps is way too brief w the single

Yeah, that's annoying. But all my high-end revolver magazine guns are the same.

Most of my cheap Hatsan's have a stop & agree that it's a nice feature.

I think it has a cost to complexity issue tho as these guns will rarely fail to cycle. My thoughts are either you invest in the gun, or the magazine and they can more easily cheap out on magazines.

Evanix doesn't cheap out on either.

@Sleestak Not sure what that has to do with this thread. Let try to stay focused on the Evanix Viper X
Sorry about that, ...focus.... Sleestak

I guess my point is I invested heavily in something that still doesn't stop me from sending empty air bursts down range.

I'm sure that there are very good functioning examples of contained rotary mags out there. The Velox seems to get OK reviews. Was also serious about the Manul & RPA.

Semi PCP pistols are a bit of a frontier. Not alot of noise out there.

I owned the original Viper in .22. This looks a little smaller. It was a fun-ish pistol. The extra height from air tube and semi action was a bit annoying. Accuracy was good and semi action was generally good. I have it go into the fart-bubble auto fire self drain sometimes if shot too low, but keeping it above 150 bar helped. Oil the action like Evanix recommends and it seems to operate - just a maintenance item to stay on top of.

One of the posters higher up mentioned Huben this and GK1 that seems to be the hype. For me, the GK1 runs circles around the Viper in so many ways and quickly replaced mine.

For what it is the pistol is overpriced. I think it is more appropriately a $500 pistol.

Hype? I appreciate your insight so don't take what I said as some kind of challenge or quote words that weren't used. If you read what I actually posted it says nothing negative about the Huben. It's just a gun after all...

Nah man - just my own re-wording, nothing serious or challenging - we're all good.

Both good pistols. I just think if you are comparing features, performance and price that the Vixen should come in at a lower price point.

Can anyone tell me if there is a point of the slide beyond initially cocking the gun?

Like any semi-auto (I assume) the gun is always in battery. I haven't tried de-cocking.

I'd genuinely like to hear your likes/ dislikes regarding both guns because I get that general impression from the few owners of both out there that I've follwed regarding the topic.

The concencus seems to be that the Huben edges the Evanix out at the end of the day pretty much across the board. It's actually one of the few products that Ive read almost no griping about & this is a tough crowd, so Im not skeptical

The big thing seems to usually come down to power & shot count. Both things that I'm not terribly concerned about shooting targets @ 10 m or less. For some reason the air handgun crowd seems to be obsessed w the differences in power. Not that it doesn't matter to me, but I have zero intentions for using this toy for hunting or personal protection. Short of being a felon, I'm not even sure why somone would opt for an airgun or especially an air pistol as a PDW.

Most of the useful and limited information that I've been able to read has been drowned out by the "Huben blows Evanix out of the water" statements that seems to come from people who either have not used the Evanix..or sometimes even the Huben. So I discounted most of that noise out of the purchase decision

Not that I need my arm twisted but convince me why I need the Huben as my 2nd PCP pistol

Yeah, supression kind of trumps concealment in my basement.

This really isn't as awkward as it looks/ expected & works well. It sounds like an airnailer going off next to my head without
