Evol mini and some scientific shooting done today.

Where is the basis for that thought? You will not find anything like this in all of the airgun industry. Furthermore, using advantages of additional barrel length and air reserves is not a true comparison. The airgun industry does not make a true comparison to the Evol Mini in such a robust package.

The basis for that thought is in the spreadsheet I posted with that thought....

I even color coded which gun had the subjective advantage. Not sure how to make my basis more clear.

That is no more a comparison nor an "advantage" than comparing a Kia Sportage to a Chevy Suburban.

You are incorrect. Your vehicle analogy is comparing two very different vehicles. Apples to oranges as they would say. Comparing the two guns in my spreadsheet is comparing two nearly identical platforms that are obviously meant to directly compete with each other in terms of size and performance, so it is apples to apples. The comparison of specs is therefore quite valid and appropriate.

And I meant what I said that my intention is not to derail the OP's thread. I was asked, so I shared.

When I first saw the Evol Mini my first thoughts were: Wow, that looks exactly like the Dreamtac, just not spec'd as well and WAY more expensive.

I love super compact hunters, so it was on my radar.

Not intending to be inflammatory. Just sharing my honest thoughts.

I would take the Evol any day of the week. Much better built and much easier to work on, if you need to work on it.

That and the fact that it is US made is a huge plus. That and the thought that the dreamline may be obsolete now that the panthera hunter is out, is another good mark for the evol.

The only time I'm interested in spread sheets is when I build a rifle around a projectile using a ballistics calculator which uses a spread sheet.

The dreamline has its place. So does the evol. I've owned both.

The evol and dreamline are apples to oranges quite literally.

In the car world we called people magazine racers, I guess we have magazine shooters in the shooting world too.

Ok, I'm all ears. Please describe the stark differences between these two platforms. Differences so great that you would call them apples and oranges.

You can toss one off a cliff, drag it behind a car in mud and gravel for a mile, submerge it in chlorine, put it in a vice and purposely try and bend the barrel to change point of impact , pick it up , aim at the prey, shoot it , and dispatch it, the other you can't. Quite literally, every word.

That's pretty significant.

I think the only similarities between the Evol Mini and Dreamline Compact are the following:

- Both have biathlon style side levers.
- Both accept AR-15 furniture.

That's about it. I think it's just like how most bullpups with a 480cc bottle look like an Impact. It's somewhat hard to get around.

@Spartan, your comparison is valid, but the Evol Mini is a much more robust platform. That’s a big difference to some, the torture that I saw the Evol Mini endure made me wince. The only other gun to fare well in that torture test, my favorite, the Atomic XR. And while it’s understood that the most end users will not “torture” their guns. It’s good to know for sure, that the Evol Mini will handle the inevitable hard knocks in the field easily and continue to perform to spec.

I'm in a different time zone way off from you guys. It's 8:13 a.m., 05/21/2023 and I'm currently shooting my Evol Mini as we speak validating some groups on a tree at 100 yards lol.

Just tested mine with lead free ammo at New England Airgun, 970 fps, shots in the red is some quick off hand shooting. The rest are 11 shot groups.

Dana still shoots that same evol today

That's cool and all but there are many variables with those kind of tests. A bad bounce or rock hit could have a huge impact. And the force on the shrouds controlled ? The dreamline has a long unsupported barrel and shroud so more leverage. I'm not saying it's tougher than the others. That's kinda obvious even before testing.

Really makes me think of how some guys struggle to get midrange pcp, and others can destroy them for fun. And take that $+1200 over the dreamline cost and buy a hard case.

I thought maybe it was just a normal day for bond, James Bond.

I've never owned a dreamline, brk or evol . So no horse in the race. The BRK is a standout for durability per dollar. Maybe try some Kalibrguns or Taipans , Uragans, AGT ect. I don't think the dreamline was built for those conditions .But owners should feel good knowing you can run it over at least once. And that's awesome how good the Evols acuracy was after all that . Shouldn't have to worry about a drop.
