Evol mini owners chime in

Have one in .22.

My only complaint is that you have to take the gun apart to adjust the regulator.
Why do I want to adjust the regulator ? Of all of the rifles that I own. the American Air Arms regulator is set MUCH higher than any other gun that I own as shipped from the factory.
The final cocking action might well be lessened with a lighter regulator pressure.

And yes, I have lowered the pellet speed to suit my shooting, which also makes the regulator setting, even higher than it needs to be.

Otherwise, with a short, add-on suppressor (Huma M40, two segment) and a more vertical grip, and a different stock installed, I like the little EVOL (not Evol !) Mini.

What stock and grip are those? Also did it require an adapter to fit the custom moderater?

Damn this thread - I blame you all for forcing me to buy a 15" .22 EVOL last night. LOL

Truth is I just got done with a terrible experience buying a March Shorty scope from Eurooptic and have a $3K refund coming my way. I figured this purchase was just an even trade - at least that's how I justifying it. At least my recently received 357 Slayer will have a brother to keep it company in the safe.

15” or the Mini will shoot the 18gr JSBs and 20.2gr NSA or 20.3gr Howlers fantastic.

I have a Evol 30 and had a mini 22 cal. Love them both. The mini is great for 50-75yd. Triggers are great on both and easy to work on if need be. I ended up converting my mini to a full length 22 cal and love it even more. Both my 30 cal and 22 cal. are early ones and the only updates was the guage ports and guages. Great service with AOA and Evol both.
@mikebaker1 What sort of issues did you have with the gauges and gauge ports?

Well the EVOL arrived today and I am beyond happy with it. Shooting right around 42 fpe ootb with JSB 25gr. Sending the 20.2 NSA @ 930 fps.
Reg seems to be just a touch under 2000psi and with a 4000psi fill I'm getting 4 mags worth.
The trigger is sublime as expected.
Sound wise it's got some pop, but much quieter than the EVOL mini I had a while back which was pre STO insert. For its size the STO insert does an excellent job.
A little disappointed with the DonnyFL adapter. With the adapter on I tried a variety of different moderators and without fail the shots spread out a bit. IMO the DFL adapter should have an air stripper cone to redirect the air back into the shroud rather than just an empty space with a flat end.

Too rainy outside for some portrait shots..... LOL. Kitchen table will have to do.

Want to update on the DFL adapter. It doesn't seem to have much effect on pellets, but does impact the slug accuracy a good amount. Will be nice when I can stretch it out - but the EVOL does not appear to be a backyard friendly kinda airgun (at least for my definition) so will have to wait for a range trip.

@ctshooter Not sure how much the moderator design differs between the Evol .30 and the Mini, but in the thread below Dana provides and explanation concerning the Evol’s shroud and moderator system design and how using a Donny FL adapter disrupts this design. See posts #21-#23 https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/american-air-arms-30-evol.1270284/page-2#post-1291436

What’s the STO insert?

When I got my EVOL a few years back the moderator had the reverse cone setup machined in the metal. The newer ones (as of like 2 or so years ago - you can tell which is which by the newer top pic rail extending about an inch over the shroud) has an insert made by Silent Thunder Ordinance. It's much more effective.

One other thing - which could pertain to noise - is that I just found (like my mini when I got it) they seem to be tuned just a touch to far past the knee of the regulator pressure curve. I put in the JSB 25s and got 870 on chrono. Turned up hammer spring a touch and zero increase in velocity. So I've now dropped it down to 850 for the 25s and will do some more slugs testing later. It's a touch quieter and the shot sound is a bit more crisp and short.
