You also have to consider some things. If you want the Evol that isn’t held back power wise, it’s going to be 10” longer than your Prophet. I was always curious about the Mini because it’s in the same size range as the compact offerings from bullpup land. But it’s lacking and pretty much a one trick pony.
Not in this thread , it's irrelevant. Completely.Vetmx says .
Taipans are pretty hot guns and definitely not designed around the .177 caliber so they might be a little hot and require some tuning. The baffles in the .177 are too big so that tells you something. Now we wait for 20 guys to chime in how great their .177 Taipans are but personally, and I have a Taipan, I looked elsewhere for my .177.
Two guys had issues with the Taipan shorts in .177 . One guy had a bad reg and torked the stock bolts to industrial standards. The other guy probably couldn't shoot or find ammo it likes .
Keep up man . Lol
this sounds good, is this a solid rifle for someone looking to enter into the air gun world?I've decided I'm definitely buying a Evol rifle.. my caliber of choice is a 22cal. My main use is small game hunting.. for me it's squirrel... Squirrel season is my Christmas! My go to rifle for the past couple of years has been my RTI Prophet compact v1 ( I swap barrels on it from 177, 22,25 but the 22 barrel is my go-to when squirrel hunting) that rifle really checks all the boxes.. I like everything about it.. it has never let me down. So those of you that have experience with a Evol mini or Evol 15" in 22cal... How will the Evol compare to my RTI compact and and out of the 2 Evol choices which would be more comparable in 22cal and why... I keep leaning towards the 15" but if the mini is just as capable as my RTI compact in 22 I'll be all about it.. help me out... Your thoughts??
You won't have any issues with it. I don't think there's a more durable repeatable rifle on the market.this sounds good, is this a solid rifle for someone looking to enter into the air gun world?

Don’t leave out the BRKs, just as solid, but British…You won't have any issues with it. I don't think there's a more durable repeatable rifle on the market.
I also could put the taipan in the same category , shame on me for leaving the two out.Don’t leave out the BRKs, just as solid, but British…
I had the same dilemma myself. I ended up with a mini because I didn’t need to shoot heavy pellets or slugs (I actually wanted to shoot cheap crossman pellets), and I wasn’t worried too much for shot count, as it’s primary job would be a woods walker. If you’re using more than 30 shots woods walking, you’re having an incredibly good day.The Evol Mini is very attractive, but I would indeed struggle in making decision mini vs 15".
I have a little .22 11.5" barreled contraption tuned similarly, 18gr in the mid-high 800's. When I assembled it I really didn't have high hopes/expectations, however that all changed after a bit of testing. It quickly became my favorite, most versatile pester for use around the camp. I have taken many pests out to a little over 100 yards with it. it can be very accurate out to that range. The short barrel translates to there being less time for me to mess up the shot, lol.
Recognizing the Mini as a very niche gun is easy for me to relate to. Even so, it still would be a difficult purchasing decision to make--Mini or 15"?
Perhaps if parts/kits to convert up/down in length were readily available the decision would be easier for many to make.
Thank you all for contributing to this topic.
One can dream....I had the same dilemma myself. I then purchased an evol 30 (sensing a trend) for a higher power shooter that primarily will be shot from bench or tripod because of its length.
If you want to know more about the 15”, check out Dana’s channel on YouTube “mountsinsportsaigun” and you’ll see plenty of content on it including a very harsh torture test.
Yeah I understand what you mean on the one trick pony now and I'm with you, I have a Notos at 15fpe with CPHPs and the Mini at 28fpe with 16gr. No doodads to play with and mess things up. All I'm gonna say is don't wait too long your missing out!I’m assuming the 3 mags that CT is getting is with a 250b fill. That’s good enough for me. The one trick pony comment is what it is. And that can be a big plus because I have a couple one trick ponies. There’s not projectile and barrel options out the wazoo. Our Prophets can shoot every projectile in their caliber beyond the maximum speed needed. Barrels and bottles can be swapped for length and power. They are not one trick ponies. The Mini is a modest power pellet gun and I’m fine with that. The second I can make up a purpose to own one, I’ll place an order. I just have so many darn guns in .22. One shoots a 14.3. The next is a 15.89. One shoots AA 16’s. Another is a 18.1. Another is a slug. Another is a Crosman 14.3. I’ll just keep reading these topics and eventually have an airgun epiphany. Or a burglary or fire.
There is something in the pipeline for that coming. I asked Tom about getting a 15" barrel for my Mini for times I want the added power for high BC projectiles in windy season and he said he's got some barrel kits coming in the future. The Evol Mini is very attractive, but I would indeed struggle in making decision mini vs 15".

Right there was my thinking.. in the windy season being able to add a bit more umph and possibly switch to slugs would be a plus.. but after thinking about it... I like the sound of a one trick pony... It does it's one thing and does it very very well according to all you that own one or two.. I believe the mini will fit the bill nicely... If I need more power I'll roll out with the RTI Prophet or it's little bother the compact... But if the Evol mini is what you all say it is (I have no doubt it is) down the road there might be a 15" join it.. one for nice hunting/pesting days other for the not so good days .. well back to planning how much overtime I need to workThere is something in the pipeline for that coming.
