Experience With Quick Release Mounts?

I'm looking for some board feedback about quick release scope mounts. The general idea is this: I just bought a modular gun. Meaning it can change barrels to suit different needs. So my thought process has me considering a quality QD scope mount, or rings, so that when I swap a barrel, I can just attach an already sighted in for said caliber scope, and go. While I expect a couple clicks fine tuning might be necessary, I imagine this could be a real time saver. Like if I wanted to shoot benchrest, speed, or PRS (in whatever combination) at the same event, with the same gun. They don't grow on trees afterall.
So... Has anyone one here had any experience with QD scope mounts? And if so; how did it go?
 
I love them. I confess I've never used them on an air gun though. I use them on powder burners that I hunt with.
The QD mounts I have are made by Leupold. I've tested them and found that I can remove the scope and pop it back on without having to re zero.
I use these mounts in conjunction with back up iron sights. It makes for a really nice set up. You can pop the scope off and switch to irons and then re attach the scope when you decide you want it back on.

i swap optics regularly on some rifles and use qd mounts. the best ones for return to zero are made by bobro engineering, but they are pricey.

I use West Hunter one piece quick release mounts on 2 of my 3 P35s. I move scopes around some and they make it easier. If I move a scope off and then later back on the same gun the zero is unlikely to need adjustment. But I think the quick release is more of a gimmick. It doesn't tighten enough so you still need to finish with a wrench. Not a big issue but the male thread part is too long sometimes and blocks access to the Allen head nut requiring a little grinding. Overall I'd rather skip the quick release part since it basically doesn't work on these inexpensive mounts.

Back in my "beginning days" with airguns I had 2 guns but 1 decent scope. I bought inexpensive qd mounts from Amazon & was really surprised how well they worked. Never EXACTLY the same when switching over to another gun but always within 2-4 clicks to get to zero in point. The more expensive ones might be more exact.

I have limited experience with them but I don’t compete. I am one that likes them for thermal and night vision scopes as well as the scopes that I will use in the daytime on the guns I hunt at night with. QD mounts may benefit folks that prefer a second focal plane scope for one application (i.e. benchrest or extreme long-range shooting) and a first focal plane scope for another (hunting) while using the same rifle for both applications. Or you may have a rifle case that fits two I scoped rifles so the scopes can be easily removed for transit or storage and quickly replaced for use.

As for brands I have, UTG QD law enforcement grade 30mm rings and a Burris cantilever Mount with QD release. The UTGs have worked well for a couple of years on a Bushnell scope mounted on my Evol. I have some supposedly higher quality UTG QD rings that I have yet to try. I’ve also had my eye on an American Defense Recon one-piece QD mount that I’m in not rush to buy, but will likely try one day. I’m not really a scope guy, I just know what’s worked well for me with my limited knowledge and primary application of hunting. Your mileage may vary.

There's a lot of the cantilever mounts with moa built into them out there. This particular one is adjustable inserts and has the QD feature that you are wanting.

@DevilsLuck Keep in mind that with one-piece mounts, you may encounter issues using this type of mount atop rifles with a split picatinny rail. Meaning that the pic rail sits on both sides of the breech. If the magazine sits too tall this sort of one-piece cantilever mount will likely be incompatible for use on this sort of rifle. My Evol is a perfect example of a rifle that will is not compatible with the above mount. In my experience these work best with a long continuos pic rail like on a stock Benjamin Bulldog shroud as long as they situate the scope high enough for the objective bell to clear the rail, shroud, or barrel.

True enough. This shouldn't be a problem for the Skout Evo that has me looking for a mount; being that it's a bullpup design.

@Ezana4CE Check out how I use a cantilever mount on.my Evol. You need the longer front picatinny rail on the newer receiver, and a shorter cantilever mount spacing.
